In the past year, twice I've encountered young couples (late teens early twenties) who were out for an enjoyable and fun hike... but who were clearly under the influence of some controlled substance and a bit disoriented. I do NOT know the circumstances of the HJ hikers... but when you have to ask so many questions about how any rational person would get into such a situation... it makes you wonder.
That's what I was thinking. I'm thinking they were smoking some weed and got off the trail to try and find a good, private spot to have sex. That's when they lost their way.
When I first heard that one hiker was found my first thought was if the guy was found then this would be very suspicious search. Why would you leave a woman or your partner? Any news about the girl? Is she still alive?
Kinda glad someone posted a different perspective on the situation. I was discussing this with my wife, i also think they got into a nasty high/bad trip. If they were trying to goof around with eachother than that kinda changes thing, but not necessarily for hes benefit.

So, were they on the right side of Trabuco Creek, rather than on the left? Isn't that were the off chute of Bell is?
Thats where his truck was and where he was found. Got the coordinates off of a report. Sorry dont have a link but it was on multiple sites.
The dude was found wearing board shorts and no shirt. Said they have been separated since Sunday. Sounds a bit fishy.
There is more info to the story that we are not hearing. Maybe we will hear about it maybe we won't. Based on the video shown last night on the guy getting off the helicopter at the hospital, he was half naked....barefoot, no shirt, no pants.
the scanner is reporting that they've found her, they're calling her "the patient", and that they are going to hike her out. If I'm understanding them correctly.
