    Update:

Was out there today, second time out there in the last month or so....there is NO water available on the backside of the park. The restrooms and water fountains are turned off. If you come in from the front of the park, and drop down into the backside(Lower Aliso, etc.) make sure you are prepared. Fortuantely I came in from the back of the park and checked, but I still needed to stop at the front of the park to get water. With it as warm as it was out there today, could get dangerous.

There are no signs posted anywhere with this information. Was told it could be like this for a few more months.

    Be prepared.

Yeah we did a nice tour of Chino on Saturday...... was all very/pretty good shape

We cam3 in from the West, Telegraph, Climbed Sycamore to Get in a little Extra Elevation, that was in surprising good shape then over to McDermont to 4C, then (Raptor, Faultline, Sidewinder, Bane... all great fun) , Southridge, Bovinian, Southridge... etc
Brought plenty of water, but Saturday started off warm and cooled down
    NICE!

During the main road construction, I topped off at a water fountain and got a violent, water-water illness. According to the ranger I called, the contractor was using non-potable water to keep dust down and failed to post signs about the water being undrinkable. He told me that they would check all water in the park and shut down as needed.

No signs still??? Our tax dollars hard at work.....

Has anyone done Skelly (whatever it is) Ridge to Brush Canyon lately? I just wonder what sort of shape it's in. Will be out there next Sunday and thought of topping off the ride with climbing Skelly and coming down Brush Canyon...

i was gonna hit up Scully Ridge but was running low on fluids, so I bailed out on Lower Aliso.

The thistle is gone....but the weeds are goin to quickly take over the trails. Looking up Brush Cyn as I went by, it looked like it was already becoming overgrown.

why would a contractor have access to the drinking fountain, let alone be able to connect a non-potable source to it?
    Some laws got violated there.

My error. The contractor DID have a sign stating non-drinkable water but had failed to put the sign up back in place. Seems in order to connect to the water spigot, it was easier to move the sign out of the way. State hires a Low-Bid contractor with uncaring workers (my assumption) and things get done poorly.

Let me tell ya, it was one hell of a weight loss regimen.

My suggestion to you is to bottle it up and sell it to them Hollywood types! You'll make a fortune with your weight loss drink! ;)

Side note: I do get 40% of the gross for the suggestion, ok partner??

Actually just found this on the CHSP website:

WATER: Currently there is no drinkable water at the Rolling M Ranch facilities. The only drinkable water within the park at this time is located at the Discovery Center in Brea. Construction of road and the new water line infrastructure is taking place through the end of this year. We look to have the water restored and safe for drinking by the end of December 2014 or in early January 2015. Please plan accordingly for long excursions through the park.

Once again, it looks as though they missed their goal date.

I rode Chino today and came across a group of elementary/Middle school Boy Scouts at 4 corners who had camped out overnight at the East campground, and then climbed Southridge back heading for Carbon Canyon. They were looking kinda beat and a little disheartened after the climb. They all had gears, but very few were on true mountain bikes.
Their leader told me they were doing their trip as a nod to their troop forefathers who used to hike from Carbon to Santa Ana canyon without any leaders back in the 50s.
It was fun to see their reactions to seeing a coyote way off in the distance. "don't get too close, Josh!"
I ended up going down Telegraph with them. They were hooting the whole way. It was hilarious to hear them when they stopped at the picnic table spot.
"THAT was mountain biking!" "Did you ride the berms?" "My suspension isn't working, I felt every rock!"
"That was AWESOME! Can we do this again!?"
