Damn, Mikie! Props! You must've been absolutely hauling ass! When I picture what happened to you, I think of this:

That pain is just your body being upset that it can let loose on the trails any time soon! Be a man and laugh it off!

    ouch, healing vibes man

its hard to really blame it on anything, accidents happen. a catastrophic failure can happen with any piece of equipment. all that matters is that mikie heals up quick!

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago on Backbone in Sullivan Canyon. My sidewall got slashed while into a fast turn and I went down head 1st. Cracked helmet and some elbow and knee scrapes. Man when that front tire goes flat instantly like that, nothing you can do but prepare for impact. I got lucky..., bummer for Mikie though. Healing vibes sent.

Mr Kinney you are a bad influence - Mikie you stay away from that ice cream! Next time we do GE to Lake Hughes out and back we going to Lake Hughes and back not 2/3 to Lake Hughes and back. it's celery and tofu for you and as soon as possible, 4 hours a day on the stationary trainer! Enlist Kathy as your typist - we miss you already. Besides you could possibly explode from holding all the Mikiness inside:)

    Healing vibe for Mikie.
I too experienced instant front tire blow out with stan. Hurt my left side upper body, but luckily nothing broken. Just so painfull when sneeze.
Can't really blame stan for my case, since I use race version of wolverine, which is light & thin. I use tube for now.

I think Mikie said he was running a schwalbe on the front and it was original equipment....it looked like to me it was just a blow out, not a rim failure. I was behind him and didn't see the crash, but he did have his GoPro going (I think). I know he will be in all of our thoughts and/or prayers.

But they seem to be 26er's. 29er's distribute the stress on longer, straighter rims.

Or there are way more 26ers and typically 26ers are used for more AM, way more FR and DH riding so there are more 26ers in situations that could create the stress to create a blowout.

Don't hold ALL the Mikiness inside.....let it out on the boards....as I imagine you will as soon as you're able to type again.

    Heal up soon!

So that is the second person I have heard from that said he was running a Schwalbe, (rims?). I'm not completely up on all the tire tech, so I wouldn't know if he had more of a chance for the unthinkable. I'm thanking you again for getting Mikie off the mountain, I was in a similar position on the same McGill trail that now has claimed another friend of mine a year or so ago. Hearing these kind of things happening to your buddies or anyone really blows, but being there and seein it all go down sux X 10. McGill can be ridden real fast, I know I will be giving it and myself a little more respect. Last I heard Mikie's surgery will be tomorrow as he has two wait 2 days before having it. I wonder? Does the body reject carbon fiber?

    Hey?
Typing on morphine and wth my left hand is, well; different?
Cathy propped me in front of the computer tday, and when I saw all these kind words, well, it kinda ovrwhelmed me...

    Thank you all. Seriously...

Never thought that my fisrt GoPro vid would be crash. But...

Have noy been out to look but I went off a jump at just croozing speed letting Radio Craig catch up and the front tire (OEM: Schwalbe 2.25 Nobby Nic on a DT Swiss X1600 rim w/ 30psi) blew ALL the air and sealant upon impact. I think tire is in tact. Rear hit ground first. No explanation...

Instead of seeing starz.... I saw ..........................gary (JCW take it from there, I'm all kinds of doped up right now, not sure I can explain).

Two Fracured Ribs, Snapped Collarbone, and I guess a 28% collaped right lung. NICE! Follow up, the lungs are good! See Surgeon on Saturday, had to hold off to reduce swelling.

I'm out of it. Sounds kinda gay, but I love you guys. That's prolly the drugs!:bang:

    Over n out!

Oh! PS ~ Radio Craig! Your my hero. Thanks for having my back!

Damn, Only Mikie I think would fight it to post up his cloudy thoughts and post a video for the first time, must have been real painful, frustrating, and time consuming. Mikie the Video was blocked for some reason. Why don't you give it another week before you attempt that again. Thanx for the update. I'll call you in a couple of days to see how the surgery went, if you are not up to it than put your lovely wife on. Hang in there bud!
