I think the subscription idea is cool. But if you subscribe to STR and you have not thrown some membership dues to IMBA and your local advocacy group (SDMBA for the SD Chapter folks) you should take a minute and evaluate your priorities. If you can not afford to join one of those organizations then you should not be subscribing to this one.

At the same time, the IMBA does nothing for local mountain biking ( I might be wrong). Lets not loose sight of what STR is. Mainly a way for recreational riders to meet people to ride with.Bill, I understand and support you're idea, but funding such un-organized MTB advocacies, such as share,Irvine Land Conservancy,LGCWP ect .........it is hard to pick which one to support.I do not normally involve myself in these conversations, but felt I should chime in.I am not bashing any, just a thought. By the way, you have a great site.

Exactly. STR provides a service, you provide a service...

How do I contribute to mountainbikebill.com?

I'll get my SDMBA membership soon...

    ..

Just out of curiousity, what is your reasoning - that makes it so clear that donating to IMBA is more of a priority than donating to STR? Thanks in advance.

Can't STR support IMBA? If I'm understanding it correctly, STR could buy a club membership for $60 a year. If STR supported IMBA and advertised that fact, I'd subscribe to STR. How about you MTBBill? Not trying to piss in anyone's Cheerios; it's just a suggestion.

Check out the IMBA site they are doing lots, maybe not right in your backyard or even mine, but they are certainly doing things in places I want to go. They are making big strides in mountain bike access in National Parks.
Have you ever ridden our Condor Peak Trail? IMBA along with local groups pushed hard to keep Boxer's Wilderness Heritage Act from getting passed and eliminating our access to miles of great singletrack.

Being involved with organizations that will help keep trails open for me and everyone else to ride is all the support I need right now. Thanks for offering. Good on ya for SDMBA.

My reasoning maybe a little simplistic, but if you/we do not dedicate some of our time and money to organizations and causes that help to maintain, promote and increase our recreational access, that access is going to degrade or go away overtime.

Just like bighit8 said "...STR is. Mainly a way for recreational riders to meet people to ride with..." and that is all fine and good, subscribe away, but throw a few bones to groups that help keep the riding places around so that we can all enjoy Ride Reports from those places.

    -Bill
