the new trails are improving with age, especially deer. But, i have been disappointed with some of the recent trail work. Yucca ridge was in excellent shape. It was fast and had a great flow to it. And it seems like it's been holding up pretty well over the last decade. There were only a couple of sections that you could argue were unsustainable. I'm not sure why the entire trail needed work done to it.
I kinda like the challenge of staying upright while going down the old coachwhip, but having not ridden the new trail, can't comment on the improvement.
Is there any more trail work planned? Here's hoping goat, grasshopper, hawk, barham ridge, cliffhanger in weir, and peralta hills (although that was dozed about 5 years ago) remain largely the same.

I think any work has already been done on goat, grasshopper, hawk, and barham ridge

i just got back from riding down goat, grass hopper, barham and lower chutes. goat does have work done with all the switch backs for the horses and bikes but the tech stuff of goat arent touched so there still nice and tech. grass hopper didnt seem any different to me and the new chutes is the new chutes...jumps are kinda lame to me but the berms at the bottom are always fun, and theres a that new trail someone made under the electrical tower on upper chutes (pretty fun decent sized drop)

I think I've managed to ride Wiggly maybe 4 times in the last 6 years. It's usually been such a mess that it wasn't worth it. I'll have to check the new one out.

You guys are mean but I get what you're driving at...Oaks is so empty it feels like a secret spot. I can't wait to ride Yucca and Coach.
Dean you need to show me Fremont! : )

Went out with Luke (Surftime) who showed me throughout the park. I have done the park once before. It's been several years since I last did it, it was awesome to have someone show me how to connect the trails.

I recently picked up a GoPro camera and just started messing around with it and getting to know Windows Live Movie Maker. Still trying to figure out how I can get a better field of view with the chest cam to not have it pointing down so much. Please bare with me. I tried to adding music, but because of Copyright music I got shot down. Enjoy

I also ate it while on Coach something...Didn't hurt at all, pride was more bruised than anything. Sad thing is I had elbow guards on. Haha

I went out there for the first time this morning with the Path Sunday ride crew and was really impressed. Definitely some very well-built trails while still keeping some fun technical sections. The berms on Chutes are soooo nice :D

How did you crash on a flat trail?

It was a slight down hill section, nothing technical. I blamed the wipeout out to the new trail having the water run offs to prevent ruts. I came into the turn at a slight angle and the front tire slipped out from underneath me.

CIMG1872.jpg CIMG1874.jpg I also went for my first time on Saturday. We went up pony trail and then across oak trail and then down chutes. I did not know that there was a dry river crossing near the education center, so I rode through the stream and my buddies hiked it.

    The weather was perfect.

One of my friends had his first mountain biking experiences here. He did fine on the decents, but had to walk up a lot of the hills. They were too steep for him.

I rode Oaks today for the first time in months and I have seen a vast improvement in the trail quality (and quantity) there.
New lines. New Jumps. New reroutes. It's almost like a completely different place. Solid work at the end of chutes with the new berms. It's almost like a 4x track now. Kudos to the builders.

Rode with stinkyrider, Tani and few others today. Trails have improved significantly. Thanks to all the builders! More fun XC/AM here than anywhere else in OC that I can think of.

I was out there on Friday afternoon, still trying to adjust to the new/re-built trails. I did deer and that might be my new favorite for a while even with the climb back out. I did find myself cursing uncontrollably both times that I went down chutes and the old trail had been closed off (strewn with cacti bits,) and re-routed up the ridge. I don't know why that bothered me soo much.
