This guy was hanging out in a tricky rock garden at our local trails in Murrieta. Right in the line one would take!

I saw one about that same size on Sunday on Racetrack in Chula. It caught me by surprise and I bounced off a tree avoiding it.

My first snake encounter this year. Saw this little guy on Dana Point hills this afternoon around 2:30pm.

I made sure this little guy is off the trail before I continued my ride. :) Ride safe guys!

My first snake encounter of the year at LCWP along Bommer Ridge, just before the top of Emerald Canyon, around midday

Many years ago on a flight to Chicago a snake got loose and slithered around the plane! When it was announced, everyone quickly lifted their feet off the floor! I never saw it, but heard screaming coming from various areas. A man got up and just happened to have a snake cage and caught it, but insisted it wasn't his snake. Yeah, right.

I find myself looking so hard lately everywhere after seeing a couple earlier than usual and I am almost getting paranoid.. especially in tighter singletrack with limited clearance.. I'm usually not too concerned but this season it's on my mind more.. where was this one?

Great. So the climbing and 7k elevation gain isn't enough and now you're adding snake obstacles to the course.

Am I the only one that hates ticks more than snakes? I love seeing snakes. Except for one time a rattler scared the cap out of me. But I'm getting ticks left and right at laguna wilderness.

Jim, don't worry if you're the first person to pass a rattler, it's the second or third person that will encounter the strike; this is why I always descend first this time of year...heh heh heh
