anyone have any pics of 191 L ??

great race this weekend to everyone! its nice to be back on the bike and racing. the last time i rode my DH bike before this race was the mammoth race. I suprised myself and took 1st in sport 18 & under by 11 seconds!!! Im convinced the times must have been messed up because i dont think i go that fast??

To all racers who started after me (P Class):

If you found the last left turn in the lower rock garden seemed easier than in practice, you now know who to thank. Pay no attention to the course-marker pole about 50 yards down the course from where it should have been.

In case anyone was wondering, "skateboarding" your bike down The Wall is much less fun than it sounds.

On a serious note, I was a little frustrated at the way the course splits were handled this weekend. Saturday during practice I was told sport class could not take the expert lines, although there were no signs up while I was there. Sunday morning I continued to practice the beg/sport lines, but when I got to the top for my race run, they were telling us you could take either line at the second split, and there was discussion the same was true for the third split. While I felt I could have shaved off some time riding the expert lines, I hadn't put any significant effort into practicing them so I didn't want to chance it on my race run. I don't think it's too much to ask for the "course split policy" to remain consistent throughout the weekend. I'm not complaining because I think this issue had any negative affect on my race time, as I did that all on my own thanks to my mistake in the lower rock garden, but it would be nice to know everyone in my class was racing the same course.

Yep that's me, I crashed just before the small rock garden with tire rut turn just above, somehow i was trying to pedal but i guess the gear poped out in rear from the first crash, i lost control as I appear the drop, then yeah my pedaling skipped down as i was lending weight into front after awkward body position off the drop. Oh well.. not so great, but I still had fun!!! at least no injury happen!

I only got one practice run on saturday, walked back up on a few sections to practice over and over. then only a short n fast practice on sunday morning. I went to my date's daughter's ballet dance on saturday morning, they wanted to come watch the race. so I had to wait.. left San Diego (Alpine) saturday at noon.. didnt make it there til 230pm. they told me last shuttle up was at 4. Oh well, i still had GREAT time with everyone out there, and good laughs at myself getting covered in silt.. Yes I did got up and keep going with silt stuck on my goggles, I wanted to FINISH the race at least!

Andy those are some cool pics! Dave (Mark) Thanks!

I moved up to sport and well my first race didn't go so good. It actually was a really bad run. I need to get Maxwell to do some DH runs with me. I'll just be working on technical stuff. My mom's advice ride with Maxwell so you can lose some fear of them rocks and drops. Can't believe I actually heard her say that. Tani my tire is still on wrong and I'll stop by the shop to get it on right way. Thanks to everyone that gives me so much encouragement out there. It really was not easy course but it was fun. Congrats to everyone that raced this weekend.

Thanks to my mom for spending another day in the dirt with me. Thanks to Dean (Talkman) for hanging with us.
