Well...all of the Willow segments are listed as hazardous (even those segments identified as non-hazardous). The Willow climb is a good test of fitness for me and I like to see if I'm improving or not. Anyway, it looks like Garmin Connect is making some changes including segments and virtual leaderboards. Let's hope that certain "users" can't flag segments. If they can't, I'm certainly done with Strava.

You are right...my bad. I went back and checked my ride and found the climb. The first two Willow segments I clicked on yesterday listed it as hazardous. I'll have to be more thorough in the future while checking my segments.

It looks like someone has been flagging climbs at Santiago Oaks again. This may be old news, but I hadn't ridden Santiago Oaks in a while until this evening. They've flagged the Bumblebee North (up), Goat to BBee Turnoff, Coachwhip (up), and Coachwhip upp! At least there's still a version of Coachwhip that still works, but the others will have to be recreated. Obviously, it's not the end of the world to recreate them, but it's so frustrating that this is still a problem after all of the complaints and all the time they've had to do something about it. They even have a new (at least I don't remember it) line on the hazardous segments stating "Segments can only be flagged as hazardous by athletes who have ridden them." It's as if they think they have solved the problem. So many people have made so many different, reasonable suggestions yet they do nothing. ARGH! ... rant over.

I have an HTC ONE running KitKat 4.4 and the Zephyr HxM BLE/Smart monitor. it will not pair to strava because Strava doesn't support BLE/Smart yet but I use another app Called IPbike that it pairs with and from that app I upload directly to Strava. IPbike stores more data than the strava app does. I now have a Garmin Edge 510 I haven't had a chance to ride with it, but it uploads to my Garmin Connect app which I then have linked to http://www.copymysports.com/ which automatically uploads the ride to Strava.

Seems someone is flagging Laguna segments again...Most of the T&A segments have been flagged...some already re-created. Noticed others as well.

I apologize if this has been discussed, I may have missed it. When did Chutes Up get flagged as hazardous riding "Up"? I can understand flagging riding downhill on Chutes Trail but up... thats ridiculous. Can this get reversed. There are other trails I noticed that have been flagged at Oaks that just seem crazy to me. Can the STRAVA Ambassador work on this? I am a paying member of Strava.

Because some idiot wanted to piss everyone off.

    They usually don't get reversed.

Not to worry, more than likely a new segment will get created.

Unbelievably stupid--both on the part of the idiot flagging the climb and on the part of the owners of Strava for allowing this to continue to happen.

Garmin Connect is starting segments, too. This may be the end of Strava.

Rode Aliso Woods today. Lots of flagged segments. Felt great up Willow. Two bad the whole uphill fireroad is flagged. Strava is turning into a mess and this flagging is BS. Any trail me and Kyle ride is dangerous!

Someone recently flagged the Cholla Climb last week. Why? Beats me... But all I can say that its totally lame. Strava needs to somehow improve the way they close segments. Maybe 3-5 people flagging to actually close it.

Or not allowing flagging of any segment and just asking people to take responsibility for their own actions and choices in life. I don't go on Strava to learn whether a trail is safe or not. The whole concept is stupid. And it's their own damn fault. Their site could have been great, but it's becoming irrelevant fast.

I agree, but given the lawsuits they've faced I'm sure they felt they needed a mechanism to reduce their liability.
The problem is that the mechanism they created is interfering with a very basic function of their product.

We ride bikes. They are hazardous even when used in a safe and controlled manner. Riders are responsible for their own actions. Not a time keeping website. End this flagging plague, please.

forgive my ignorance.... but, what does it matter if a segment is "flagged"????? if you ride it and it's flagged, does it not show up on your strava feed?

Basically a Flagged segment does not have a leaderboard....won't show your results vs. others.

Also, if flagged hazardous, doesn't show your own historical results for the segment, which is what I care most about.
IMO, if a segment gets marked hazardous, they should just delete it, or at least "hide" it. But I understand that's not the intent of what they were originally trying to do (keep roadies from racing through stop signs/lights/dangerous intersections). For us mountainbikers, it seems to have just become a hikers revenge, or maybe a slow cyclist that doesn't want to know how slow they are, or someone who just likes to piss off others :?:
