My UST wheels are slowly losing air. I remove the tires and check for signs but I don't see any. Last week, I discovered my rear wheel flat. This weekend I discovered both wheels flat. I pump it up and its fine to ride. I am going to check the rubber O-ring for the valve stem and see if it's leaking from there. Anybody else have experience with this?

Add a couple of scoops of Stan's sealant.I usually lose a little air when I first mount a new ust or 2-bliss tire on my rims. After a few weeks no problem.I usually check the pressure once a week and air up accordingly.-Lloyd

When I ran Maxxis High Rollers (UST but not LUST) on a UST rim they used to lose 10 psi a night. Then I switched one of them out with a Crossmark (LUST) and it held air well for a while, then it started losing like 10 psi a night. I dumped a couple scoops of stan's sealent in each tire and neither of them leak anymore :)

Are you sure the entire bead is seated properly? I have only experienced this issue when the bead was not seated right. I have yet to see a UST wheel leak from the valve stem and the only way I believe that could happen is if it were damaged/defective.

BTW, they still make tubes? What a waste IMO.

Oh Oh Oh..... I have a great idea to figure exactly where you leak is.........Fill your tub with water, and dunk the inflated wheel under, look for bubbles. Then youll know for sure where the leak is

Yeah, I think i'll do that this week. The wheels were mounted for about 5 months w/o having to +/- air pressure. Just happened suddenly.

Are you running UST tires with your UST rims, or are you cheaping out and using regular tires? Only thing left is valve core not sealing and gummed up or not sealing at the rubber grommet where it joins at the rim with the valve lock ring.

Why no Stans? If they are not new tires and you have been running them they may have some holes in them from thorns or small slidewall tears.

Take some soapy water and a brush and see where you are losing air.

    +1 on the Stan's juice...

... I know it adds weight, but suck it up. The whole point of UST is to be as bullet-proof as possible. No one likes to stop for flats on a trail ride. Racer boys may want to run em dry, but most folks use tubeless rigs with juice of some kind inside to keep the flow going. Try it, you'll like it!

So I removed the tire and inspected it. Nothing. I made sure the valve stem and o-ring was clean/not cracking. Clean. I did the water test and BAM!!! Air was leaking out of all the nipples. I am depressed now.

I am thinking the quick fix would be stans. Any suggestions?

Replace the valve and/or use Stans. If it's only on one wheel, you can try taking the valve from the other good wheel to test if it's the valve. If replacing the valve fixes the problem, just get a new one. If it doesn't, I'd inspect the inside of the rim wall carefully for cracks.

Stans is still dangerous garbage, don't risk it.

UST rims are not drilled, so since the bead is not leaking the only way you could pressurize the spoke bed is through the valve stem hole. Make sure the O-ring is seated snugly but not too tight, try a little grease or Vaseline and it should seal up fine. If that fails O-rings are less than a dollar everywhere just make sure it's not super tight (they seal on compression but if pushed too much they will deform and leak).
