JUST IN: Helicopter rushing snakebite victim from Corona to hospital

Rescuers are flying a snakebite victim from Skyline Road outside Corona to Loma Linda University Medical Center, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.
No further details were immediately available.

This is from the Press Enterprise news paper. I hope it wasn't anyone on here.

I rode there twice this week. Tuesday & Thursday. Both days I've seen rattlers but the two I seen Tuesday were run over and dead. Funny on the way down one was gone. The one I seen Thursday night was a big one. I almost stopped to take a picture but they don't come out well unless you have something to show in the picture for scale. I'm guessing 4.5' to 5' and very well fed.

I rode up on Thursday as well around 4 pm. I saw a bobcat on the way down, but no snakes.

HELIVAC for a snakebite to loma linda is a little overkill, unless they were up off the trail somewhere. Lots of southern pacifics this time of the year, its spring, it just warmed up time to and time to mate. I pulled one off santiago canyon road yeserday

snake bite kit is useless, your best bet is to just be careful and if you get bit try to stay calm and go to the hospital, the extracter and other suction devices are a joke

Saw two yesterday that I ushered off the trails. Pics in my RR from 4-17.
Studies have indeed found that rattlesnake venom is absorbed almost completely and instantaneously by muscle and sub cutaneous tissue, in 1/2 to 3/4 of a second. Cutter Labs should be sued for all the fraudulent snake bite kits they've sold, as well as encouraging victims to inflict more damage by cutting X type incisions over the fang punctures. The body is better off diluting the area with blood flow in a large animal like an adult human, versus keeping it contained with a tourniquet.

Riding back might not be a great ides it wouod be better to keep your heart rate down, it would more likely be a good idea to get to a safe place and call for a ride ot the hospital or ambulance, dotn forget alot of bites are dry

Some friends of mine were questioned this afternoon about an SUV we saw off the cliff on Skyline with a dead body in it. Does anyone have any details on this? There was a puddle of oil and broken tail lights on the fireroad where the car went over.
