Stop spending money on illegal aliens. America spends 3 times the amount of war on illegal aliens milking our social programs. That would be one good way to cut government spending. Although I don't think McCain is tough on illegals so my idea won't work for him.

Don't forget that George W. Bush promised change as well. He didn't lie! The economy is far worse and there is no end in sight for the war. Thank you republican party!

I guess McCain will bomb Iran when he gets in office. That's a change!

If you think you can trust a politician from either side, you are nuts.

If you think one side will look out for your financial interest you are nuts.

If you think Illegal imigrants are hurting our economy, you don't understand our economy. We get the work force cheeper by keeping them marginalized. The social spending that goes to ilegal aliens is nothing compared to what the cheep marginalized work force gives this economy. Then, the man can send them away if they do not stay in line. There is no need for due process or anything, just deport them if they get roudy. I do not believe in welfare. However, if we are going to have a destitute marginalized work force that we take advantage of, I don't care what color their skin is. Taking care of the folks that you are taking advantage of is part of the cost of doing business. It was true in the days of slavery, and it's true now.

I am most concerned about individual freedom and human rights in this country. I see the patriot act as a major concern. I do not hear either candidate talking about restoring the power of the bill of rights. I am very concerned about the ongoing erosion of the rules that protect our liberty in this country. What use is innocent till proven guilty if there is a loophole where they can call you a terrorist, and skip the whole thing? What is the defenition of terrorist anyway? Were the American revolutionaries terrorists? I gues not since history is written by the victors.

I will say the use of religion by the republican party makes me want to vomit.

For whom do I vote for if I want to be able to get an abortion while packing heat?

Form whome do I vote if I don't want to pay for coorporate welfare, private welfare, or a ware?

For whome do I vote if I am concerned about the environment, but don't believe conventional regulation is the sollution?

For whom do I vote if I want the freedom to be smart or not?

For whom do I vote if I think there are too many lawyers in this country?

For whom do I vote if I don't think the government is repsonsible for my safety, happiness etc, and I don't trust them with these issues?

For whom do I vote if I see the government as a big gang with lots of guns and cages (jails)?

For whom do I vote if I am barely comforted by the fact that our government seems to be about as good as it gets?

I'm with you on being disgusted with the status quo, but I believe in real change. A chance to get a third party in. I'll vote again as I always do, but it won't be for the dems or rep's. Just doesn't make sence to me. Can't people see the waste? Talk about taxes if we got rid of all the corruption that goes on behind closed doors I seriously believe we could develop a budget surplus. All these pork belly projects and dirty dealings have to stop and it can't with only two parties involved.
    Think outside the box.
There are other options, that are better then what we have now.

I think the gov is in way over it's head. Here are some things that I think should not be political or legal issues:

    1. Gass prices, or any prices.

    2. Altruism (weflare etc)

    3. Drugs

    4. Guns

    5. religion

    6. mariage

    7. Health care

I don't think they do a good jib on these sorts of issues. Insitutions by nature are not to be trusted with these kind of important personal/economic issues. They will only twist things so that a select few will benefit at the cost of all functionality and credibility.

link/source? because google is telling me ~10 billion for illegal aliens in, and 500+ billion for the war in iraq. that's some funky math.

Although this is a private forum that is made public i find it a bit ironic that the freedom to state your opinion and the freedom for debate gets prematurely censored. Like the OP stated this is politics people will invariably get butt hurt and that's life you get over it and move on. let the debate evolve and if you dont like it then go out there and cast that vote and make your "change" please in the spirit of democracy keep the post open.

    Censorship in un-American.

okay, here's the deal. my point was that the cons have been trying to pad, so to speak, her resume. things like: she's from the biggest state (does governing tundra for 2 years count?), she's a reformer (she supported the bridge to nowhere and 750 million in special earmarks), she was in charge of deploying the national guard (that's federal), etc., etc. biden, dean, and obama have decades of high-level public service with proven track records. palin...pales in comparison.

and maybe this election doesn't matter to some people, but i'd like to have my country back.

also, jcampbell- don't put all the budget problems or lack of reforms on dems. they may have the majority, but repubs have been unwilling to compromise and bush/arnold have used vetoes to keep the status quo.
