Ok, so I'm moving to Boulder, CO in a month and have been cleaning out boxes & etc for the move..and I came across some pics....

    Pretty funny!! :)

So take note of a couple things...
    Pic 1 & 2....Yup, I'm crazy jumping kid!!

    Pic 1..
Check out the "Old School" Vans, which were "New School" at that time!!
And check out that "one-handed" jump....can you say SKILLLZZZZZ....! :bang::lol:
    Pic 2..
    Just crossing it up!! :)

    Pic 3...
    First race in Big Bear....1992!!
Check out the shoes??!! Those are softball cleats & that's a softball/baseball shirt I'm wearing!!
Plus notice the 6lb Scott fork on the front....Can you say TECHNOLOGY!!:lol:

I got 67th out of 70 at this race. First time riding in Big Bear, so when I go to the top & saw the lake below, I stopped to check it out. There were guys passing me & yelling at me to keep going, because this was a race, but I didn't care!

    Cheers-
    Scott

    Your oldest MTB pic...

On mine note the girly legs without quads, the King headset, Mag 21, and the Avid Tri-align brakes (Avid was a boutique brand back then). That custom painted helmet isn't too bad either.

Bell V1 Pro helmet, Toe clips (with toe flips) & a Joy Division T shirt, was all that you needed to be a downhill racer on a Ritchey Super Comp.

Who would ever imagine that this little churchboy would grow up to become... Sailor Ripley.

My first bike circa 1968 a Schwinn Stingray of course and some of Dads
old rides in the background. I will have to dig for my BMX and ramp/pool riding pictures.

About as early for me as it gets.
I spent a lot of time in Azuza canyon on this bike!

This is a shot of me 30+ years ago. My Dad was a great sport taking picture after picture. The frame in the picture is currently, and proudly, hanging from the ceiling of my shop.

Man, all these old pics are killer. My one regret is back in my youth I didn't have a camera - and my parents didn't care much about following me around snapping pics of my sweet skills. Fortunately, BMX Action held a photo contest somewhere around 1982, so my friend's dad came out to photograph us at Kearny Moto Park. Big day, so we put on our finest Haro leathers:

My turn... just in the past few months I dug out boxes of old slides and started scanning. So finally, I have something to contribute to this "archive." Now I just have to get my parent's pics from the 70's. I got my first camera in '78, so that's when my photo history begins:

Christmas day 1978. It was a good christmas!:

My first race in 1988, on my first mountain bike, a GT Avalanche. The race was an out-and-back combined time in the Verdugos, and some kid a few years younger than me won it (Tomac):

Riding the Waterfall section of the Gabrielino between Redbox and Clear Creek, 1988:

    Gabrielino trail 1988:

I can't even remember where this was, somewhere out in the desert by Palm Springs. I was there to race the Desert Princess "World Championship" Duathlon, and took my mountain bike along:

Steeper the better: Olive View Challenge course, 1989:

    Mt. Wilson Toll Road, 1989:

Mt. Lowe, 1989. yes, those are ugg boots and toe straps!

Same day and my Dad's first day on a bicycle since he was a kid. He went back home, bought a bike and has been riding ever since.

New decade, new bike. 1990 Big Bear series on my custom Curtlo with an Action Tec fork, Nuke Proof handlebars. This bike was retired to my parents place for when I go to visit them:

My '80's triathlon race bike (Still have it):

The GT went into semi retirement in 1994 in Costa Rica:

I remember this bike, the guy that used to own Bud's Bike Shop in Alta Loma, (yes Alta Loma) Peter Boor, used to have this bike in his shop. Wow blast for the past.

Oldest Bike Photo of YOU! (Let's see 'em)

The Holidays are great for riding down memory lane. Dug these up and thought it might be a fun thread to see some of your childhood riding pictures.

Thanks Mom & Dad! Made me who I am today...(not sure if that worked out, but :?:!)

Holy s**t! I used to have that same gold and black bike, back in 5th grade (1983?). Think it was a Royce Union we got at Pep Boys.

That's a Columbia Pro AM! Also the source of my first fight...guy stole my pads, including the nut protector. May need to add one of those to my current bike the way things have been going. But it was from circa 1983.

Your avatar reminds me of my severely drugged-out "wisdom" teeth (4) extraction experience... Top left is what the dentist looked like while under heavy anesthesia and the lower right is probably what I would have looked like... When the procedure was over, I woke up alternately laughing and crying, so whacked-out I couldn't walk... very strange, scary, disturbing, experience... Wasn't one of the goals of MK Ultra (MK3?) to "fracture" the individuals personality in an attempt at mind control? Interesting avatar and handle...

LOL thanks! Mk3 is my old bike: Iron Horse (props to IH role model Dino! :bang:)

Had my 4 removed and 2 upper bicuspids. Don't remember too much from that day but someone walked in my room I was sitting on the floor and had a bloody drool hanging from my lip to the floor and didn't know. My face was so swole up I felt like I been to 'nam or something.
