Josh who was a mechanic at supergo is now, as far as I know, the manager there. He is a very good guy. And they have a large womens section the last time I was there
It's been a little while since I've bought my Spec. Enduro from SCC. Sean and his crew are very nice and helpful. Sean gave me real world opinions on products he had tried and never tried to sell me something I didn't need. When I was shopping for my bike at the time I brought my son with me(almost a year old at the time). I wanted to test ride a couple of bikes but my son didn't want to leave me. Sean had no reservations about holding him and told me to take as long as I needed. My 07' Enduro had the notorious fork issues(twice ) but Candy took care of it and put in an 08' part and haven't had any issues since. There was never any hassle when I brought the bike in, repairs were always done when promised. I would definitely buy another bike from SCC.
A little news for this place. This month is the 2 year anniversary for this shop and they are eating the tax on everything you buy. I went here for for Stumpy Comp HT here for 1500 out the door. The guys here are great.
I'm in there like 3 days a week. they dont even ask if i need anything anymore. i just go to hang out lol It's literally a 20 second ride from my house. Super cool/Knowledgable peeps there :bang:
I just bought an '07 Enduro there they had on special yesterday (July 9). Even the '08s they had were $200 cheaper than South County dealers. I've always ridden Specialized but don't like the dealers near me. I was very stoked. They didn't put any pressure on me, answered my questions, and just had an all around friendly vibe. I don't understand why all retail shops can't pull off that vibe?
Its a nice store. i had tried to find new disc brake bolts, as mine fell out. Guess that's the problem with buying a used bike and not knowing anything about it. The rear brake rotor was obviously loose and the bolts fell out on the first ride. I went to a few bike shops in my area and Surf City was the only one that had a bolt kit!
Sean runs a really great shop. His staff is really great too. I would shop there more if they were closer to me and if they carried more brands/custom stuff.
We bought my girlfriend's Myka there. They were great in entertaining our multiple trips and questions. I think our guy there was Chris, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the dude had knowledge.
Great shop bought my '09 Stumpy elite there, they did a great job on the build and TJ answered all me ?'s good people up there! they had sick deals on '08 bikes also!
Surf City is great! I've bought 3 bikes and a bunch of accessories. I always talk to Nelson, and he's very friendly and helpful. He always takes a few moments to talk trails and stuff. I bought my 8 year-old daughter a teal Hotrock for Christmas. I bought it around Thanksgiving to take advantage of the no-tax deal. They let me keep it there until just before Christmas. They really help make the magic happen. Great folks! MBA
Yes i'll have to agree, good group of friendly guys that work there.........bought my first and only bike over a year ago from them and looking to get another one soon.........bike's there now getting adjusted and worked on by Candy since i blew out my rear shock during the 12 hour race this last weekend and said screw it and rode the last 2 laps with the shock not holding any air and probably wasnt the smartest thing to do but I wanted 8 laps (figured it was like a lowered hard tail  ).....dropped the bike off monday night and it's ready to go home right now and i can play this weekend.
I bought my first full suspension at Surf City ('08 Stumpy Elite). Chris was very friendly and I felt like he was not trying to sell me anything I didn't need. The store is 45 min. away from my house so that should tell you something.
+1 for these guys. i've had some frustration with the other big local shop, so when i picked up my new cog last week i decided to check 'em out. i walked in--late afternoon on a monday--and walked out 20 minutes later with my bike ready to roll. friendly guys (i also liked them at supergo), great advice, fast service, and a cool store. it's like being in love...
Been here also during my shopping/research for a new FS bike. Really nice and helpful on the Specialized bikes. Huge inventory to check out.
Riding down to the beach on my Bontrager I pulled into SCC last summer for lube and a tube. They instantly recalled me and the bike which they sold me at Supergo FV. This past Christmas I purchased a 09 FSRxc from them. They are great people to do business with...very informative...never any pressure...never any bad vibes. I have been very satisfied with their service!!! They are the best shop I have found in HB/Westminster area. I don't like doing business at performance because of the peeps there...oh and that shop next to performance is the same...
Bought my 08 Stumpy FSR Expert from Surf City last month. Great customer service, Nelson's a cool head, Miguel (mechanic) is just the same. I bent my rim the second time out, dropped the bike off on sunday, it was ready on monday. When I went to pick up bike, I decided to get a computer, they immediately installed it in 10 minutes and I was off to fully loop. A few weeks later I realized my shock had a slow leak. Sean told Miguel to check something or another, and if it needed major work to take a shock off a new bike and give it to me because he didn't want me off my bike too long. Lastly, I erroneously squeezed the front brake with the wheel off and the brake rubbed. Brought it in on a sunday after noon and Nelson fixed it in 10 minutes and then gave me a wedge to put between the brake pads when I have the wheels off. I have nothing but good things to say about them. For the most part, their prices are fair, but the selling point is their customer service.
I have been buying bike crap from Sean and his crew since the Supergo days. Good group of guys, very nice shop. Candy (spelling?) in service rocks too!
You may or may not know that I can be a bit fickle about shops and mechanics--Josh at Sand Canyon is THE MAN! But, in light of the changing of their shop, I've been shop-whoring, looking for a new local mech. The following are my road bike shop mech stories.... One shop wasn't able to complete my bike service in 4 days (change the derailer), so I ended up having to use my husband's bike for a race--cross them off the list. One shop had my post crash bike in, took 4 days to look at it (though they had been upfront about the delay), then didn't have the parts they needed, so it would take at least another week to get parts...then to fix....PLUS they wanted to replace my handlebars, front shifter, and rear derailer..... So, took it to Surf City, who looked at it the same day. They needed to order the shifter, which would have taken another week but the rear derailer DID NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED! (cross off the other shop from my list) Surf City took my bike in, everyone checked it out first day, and I got my bike back, complete the next day (we had an extra shifter that they put on)! They checked the bike, changed the cableshousing, wrapped the bars, changed the shifter, adjusted the derailer, even cleaned the bike. Great service! Everyone was nice, supportive and we had a great time sharing crash stories. Thanks!
