Just thought of something--it's crazy to think that the plateau I'm on in my avatar pic may be gone. Weird.

Donations being accepted at Qualcomm Stadium

Many people have been asking about volunteer opportunities. Here's one.

    http://www.sandiego.gov/mayor/pdf/071023.pdf

    MAYOR JERRY SANDERS
    MEDIA ADVISORY

Donations for Fire Evacuees Will be Accepted At Qualcomm Stadium Between 9 am and Noon

Corporate/Bulk Donations for Relief Stockpiles Accepted With Special Arrangements At Any Time

Donations for fire relief efforts will be accepted at Qualcomm Stadium between the hours of 9 am and
noon beginning Wednesday morning. The public is being invited to donate non-perishable food items
and personal hygiene products and supplies at section A-3 of the stadium parking lot during those
    hours.

Restaurants donating prepared food products may do so at Gate F at the stadium during the morning hours.

Corporate and bulk donations can be accepted at any time with special arrangements. Qualcomm Stadium is serving as the central distribution point for stockpiles of goods and products being used at other evacuation sites in the county.

Those planning to make corporate or bulk donations need to contact Jennifer Wolff, Director of the City’s Corporate Partnership Program, at 619-980-5424.

Justin and his buddy went out to check on the fires by Redhawk, but somehow ended up driving north. I guess someone started a fire off of Clinton Keith (a few miles north of us). They've got water drops on it right now.

    What is wrong with people?

The Harris fire is now burning near a wilderness area in the Cleveland National Forest. An official near the area said the fire is just southwest of where the Pine Creek wilderness meets the Hauser wilderness, near Lyons Valley Road.

I just heard on KOGO, though that due to the fires near Pine Valley (to the south) earlier this year hasn't left much fuel for the Harris fire. Apparently the city is okay, and the trail itself is north of the town of Pine Valley.

I think the Harris fire is still SW from there.

The fire earlier this summer was south of the 8 in that region. The fire would still have a ways to go to hit Noble, but I guess it's possible.

Not sure exactly how up to date it is, but it's clearly even out of the evacuation range. Barely.

    oops, heres a list

Items needed by disaster victims are: clothing, small appliances such as toasters or microwave ovens, tableware (utensils, plates, cups), towels, hair dryers, tested electrical equipment and battery-operated items such as clocks and radios, children's games and toys (with all pieces and parts) and furniture. Please do not donate food and personal hygiene items, as these will be provided by the American Red Cross.

Those who wish to make donations to the American Red Cross may bring checks to the drop-off points above. Checks should be made payable to American Red Cross Disaster Fund Relief and may be earmarked 'Southern California Wildfires,' 'San Diego Wildfires' or 'Malibu Wildfires.'

"Being a healthy community means coming together as a community to help others," said Vanessa Poster, board president at Beach Cities Health District. "I'm really proud we can be part of this effort," she added.

He's ok. I emailed him earlier today.
