Default Painting and warrenties

Hey guys, I was thinking of painting the lowers on my marz 888 and was wondering if this would some how affect any kind of warrenty. The forks were purchased on ebay and seem to work fine (I was told they only had about 7 rides on them), but there is no reciept and I don't know if there is any kind of warrenty or not.

I was wondering:
What is fork rebuilding, and would painting the lowers disable my ability to get it rebuilt?
A guy at the LBS personally knows a couple of technicians for marz and said if it needed to be rebuilt come to him.
I'm just worried something is gonna be wrong with the forks and marz just says, "nice paint job, but were not touching that".

and how much do rebuilds cost?

P.S. sorry for the jumbled/rambling style. Its hard to write my ideas and thought down.

Since you aren't the original owner, and it's more than likely over a year old, there's probably no warranty for you. Doesn't mean you can't get a crash replacement (do forks have those?) or get other repair work done. I don't think a company would turn away repair work.

That being said, I have no idea how you would go about painting them, and you definitely wouldn't want any kind of paint, solvent, or anything else getting past the seals.

If you don't get any good info here, search on emptybeer's DH/FR forum for fork painting. You may find a few useful posts mixed in with the dribble

you should have no problems. usually forks oem or aftermarket have a one year warranty against defects (original owner). to rebuild the fork from marzocchi direct is usually 70.00 bucks, you get new oil and seals. custom tuning stiffer/lighter springs will cost you more. to have the lowers patinted will not effect anything, as long as the internal surfaces and working surfaces are masked from paint.
Marzocchi does have a return and upgrade program, send in your old Marzocchi in any condition (within reason) and they will discount a new fork accordingly.

take your fork to Earl Schieb (?) see how it comes out
i say internal beacuse they can remove the lowers and have them painted vs. masking the whole fork

I think I'm just gonna spray paint it myself, but I'll definatly check price that guy out. It would be nice to have a pro job.
Thanks

If you are going to rattle can it look into that sandable automotive paint. If can now be had in spray cans.

School yourself up on the paint basics and this could be a nice project.

Before bikes I used to mod computers (yes nerdy I know, but not as nerdy as some of you with macs). So I am not at all afraid or niave about spray paints, wet sanding, finishes, ect.

I guess that makes me nerdy too since I mod computers. But check out some of the Auto spray as mentioned above. They work really well especially with the clear added. Just stick to the computer spray guides and they will turn out great, maybe go for a few extra layers of clear to help with scratches.

Here is my current computer that I'm using. And the green and black one with the reservoir on the back was painted with rattle cans.
