I've been having good luck with Maxxis freeride tubes. They are a little thicker (1.2mm) than most regular tubes(.9mm). They are sized 26x2.2/2.5 so they fit my 2.3 tires perfectly.

I've had the best luck with Giant and Intense DH tubes. Not light by any means, especially when you consider I put stans in them. Sure it's a weight penalty, but I haven't flatted since using them in this manner. I like to run at a fairly low pressure, so the DH tubes are what helps keep me from pinching, and the stans are for nails, goatheads, and whatever else could make a small puncture.
Although my wife runs just some standard tubes and hasn't had many flats.

So someone gave me the one on the right. This one snapped right in half, and I was being careful! I never had this happen before! I never liked the long brass stems, for looks, vulnerability to snagging, and possible leverage on stem base while pumping. And on some cheap ones, the stem machining looks rough. But I never expected this. Caveat emptor. So I continue to open the box and check 'em. I say get 'em short & plated.
That stem on the right looks very familiar!!

Just a note Dan, you should ALWAYS carry a spare tube...No wait, TWO spare tubes. Just in case you loan your first one to a very thankful rider...

You can use these just fine in a 2.1 or even a 2.35 with no problems.

Slime! I've been using them since they first came out and have never had a flat with a slime tube on my MTB. I've been running the lightweight version for the last two years.

I did blow a slime tube on my road bike but I think I kinked it when I put it on in a hurry. Front tire...what a mess.

All I know is what I read here, so whatever TKBlazer runs, I'm NEVER buying those!

I go to Bike Co and get the 10 tubes for $20 They work great.
I have been thinking about trying the slime tubes. I think they are a little expensive though.

yeah, but considering you rarely if ever have to replace them, I think they would work out to be the same price or cheaper. provided you don't get a pinch flat or have something wrong with your rim, they last a long time.

I have only changed 2 Slime tubes since June, one was from a pinch flat at Fully.
