Default Squealing XTR brakes???

Hey guys, I have a customer with XtrM965 brakes and he is complaining that they constantly squeal after about 20-30min. of riding. I have de glazed the pads, scuffed and cleaned the rotors with alchohol, as well as re-bled them.
What am I doing wrong or forgetting to do?
Thanks STR!

Default Are the pistons moving evenly?

We have occasionaly seen 965 brakes with one piston that moves a lot more than the other no matter what you do. This can be a waranty scenario.

The rider may just be overheating the brakes. If this is the case, it a matter of braking lessons and or a bigger rotor set.

There may be pad contamination. If contaminants soak into the pads, they will squeel till replaced. Organic pads squeel less than metalic.

Just a thought, when the original M965's came out there was an issue where the pistons would either over extend or move at an angle. The problem was cause by the piston/quad seal interface was polished. They changed to a rougher surface to allow the seal to grip the piston (and help it retract)

That typically causes the issues that thephat mentions with the pistons. If the other issues like overheating/contamination are ruled out, I'd talk to Shimano and see what they can do and maybe have them replace the pistons/caliper.

well i have some old xt brakes and i found that when i first started riding i would ride the brakes quite often resulting in overheating the pads and rotors to the point where they started to howl. I've learned to brake more effectively and now i dont run into that till after 3-4 rides.

Just seen the 08 xt brakes today, very sexy. The LBS said they work even better then they look.

Great more bike stuff lust!

Try mixing it up. use one resin, and one metalic per brake. Stops a lot better than straight resin with no noise. Got the tip from Shimano. It works!!
