I have the FSRXC Rim, and I love it, but I got it because that's what I can afford. If I had the money for the stumpy, that's what I'd be riding.

Default Have you seen the 08 stumpy fsr models in person?

I think they are sick.

I'm really impressed with the parts spec on the Comp. It's a relatively small price bump for the upgrades. Tani sold me an 06 Stumpy Expert, and one buddy just recently talked himself into an 07 Comp, and another went with the 07 Elite.

Kinda wierd that it's an all-Specialized group, because I'm not particularly attached to Specialized, and really indifferent about their styling (that funky linkage on the early Demo was a classic example of "artistes" overruling engineering). But the FSR linkage is nice, and a well spec'd bike will cost less than some frames.

The stumpy will be worth upgrading later if you so desire, but the XC Pro is about as deelux as you'll want to make it. And you'll probably ride the stumpy for a year or two longer. So over time the Stumpy will probably be cheaper.

My $.02...

I'd go for the Stumpjumper. Are you talking the 07 or 08? The 08s have a rear suspension that is almost the same as my Enduro SL. That would be reason enough to get the 08 over an 07, however the deal you could get on an 07 right now would make it a tough decision.

Go talk with Tani at The Path and see what he has in 07s. If they still have any, you will get a smokin' deal! (I'm biased because that's where I bought my Enduro SL).

if you ride a size small, and you're not in a rush to buy, we could meet up at a trail and you could borrow my bike to test it out. i have an 07 stumpjumper expert.

If you can shell out the extra coin, the Stumpjumper all the way. No doubt. More travel front and rear. (120mm vs. 100mm) The specs on the FSRxc are nice but the SJ is a way better bike.

Besides, if you decide to flip bikes down the road you'll get way more $$ for the SJ frame than the FSRxc.

I have a 07 stumpy comp and I love it and bought at the Path as well. I got a smokin deal on it that I could not pass up. I never thought a bike can make me look good. Anyways great bike and great componets, although I just upgraded my bars to the carbon fiber Race Face XC.

Even with that bike on the ground I still look good. Dang paparazzi, don't hate because the Boston Red Sox are your 2007 World Series Champions.

So you went with the FSRxc? What were your reasons?

test ridden an 07, cant tell the difference between a Stumpy Comp and the FSR XC, but the FOX triad is a nice touch and the price difference is not so distant after some negotiations.
