Running 819's on Hadleys. So far I haven't been able to destroy them but then again I dont ride as aggressive as most riders on this forum. But I do weigh over 200 lbs so thats gotta count for something right

yea I get the feeling some of them are real huckers...like I said something light, well made that will last. doesn't have to be bombproof.

I've riddent both the Stans ZTR Arch and the Mavic XM819. If you're looking for light, go with the Stans with their yellow tape. If you want solid go with the Mavics. I've broken a spoke in each of those wheels while riding. The Mavic stayed true and allowed me to ride down the DH trails at Mammoth while the Stans warped pretty badly and I had to slow down and pick the smoother lines to get back to the car.

The Mavis will also be MUCH easier to build up if you are doing them yourself. This is coming both from experienced builders and my personal experience. I've never tried the DT Swiss 5.1 so I can't comment on those. I run 2.5 tires on the Mavic 819 @ 25psi and have not had problems with burping even when landing 6' to flat. I am 145 with gear btw.

While rim width does affect how wide a tire you can use and it's effectiveness and feel, keep in mind what you really want in a tire. Narrower rims with wider tires will give you a more rounded tire profile for better cornering. Wider rims will give you better straight traction as you will have a larger contact patch when upright.
