Take the pads out, caliper off and soak it with WD-40.

have changed how..........

Back to the topic. If it is not leaking then you may just need to pull the piston(s) out and clean them. Replace the fluid and bleed

In high school I even had the stoner van that we all fell out of in a haze of pot smoke!

I'm gonna try TurnerRob's fix first. Then I'll try the real way....

I just had this problem with an old Hayes caliper. I removed the pads, and I dabbed a Q-tip dipped into brake fluid around the caliper piston. I then squeezed the lever, forcing the piston out only a little bit, then I dabbed the Q-tip around it again. Then I pushed the pistons in. Basically, I cycled the pistons a bit while dabbing the outside of them with the brake fluid. When I was done, I sprayed the caliper with contact cleaner, and reassembled everything.

I took out the back seat of a '69 volkwagen van, nailed a bed together, and then broke it on the very first try at getting it on!
Sprayed WD-40 on it and it works like new! Thanks TurnerRob!

That was going to be my next step. But I've been doing a test with these brakes to see how little maintenance I can give them. I first got them in around 1999 or 2000, and this is the first time I've had the slightest problem with them. If the piston sticks again, they're coming out for a thorough cleaning.

My can of WD-40 is MIA so I used the q-tip and brake fluid method and after a few mins my piston came free. Thanks for the help.
Later, Rossage
