Joe Breeze's little spring thingy still seems to be a valid alternative to all the spendy seatpost adjusment devices after all these years. I can't find my old HiteRite (just the sleeve) but I was looking at the bike tonight thinking that would be awfully cool to be sportin' some old school tech! As I remember the thing actually worked.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too...it worked just fine. I took it off my 1986 KHS when I added a suspension fork and removed the bar ends, somewhere around 2000. Then I got an Epic in 2003. But I've still got the Hite Rite, a little bit rusty, in my parts box. Along with my PowerStraps. I liked those at the time too. I think the HiteRite was good for about 2" of drop.
