still putting the new bike together and it appears Kona is the only company doing things weirdly with their 30.0mm seat post. Very few can be found, none of which are to my liking, so I'm probably just going to pick this up whenever I put my order in...
http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...+Seatpost.aspx any disadvantages? oddly enough the 27.2 thompson elite seat post is market matched so I hear the gods of something telling me to order it |

Just make sure to grease the inside and the outside of the shim. I was recently working on a Giant that came with a shim, and this was the source of creaking. A dab of grease, and the creaking went away.

I'm sorry, I meant to include the link to Thomson's site: http://www.lhthomson.com/elite_sizes.asp
Any dealer can order it for you, as I'm sure you know.

Iron Horse uses this size a lot. We stock a variety of 30.0 posts since we sell a few brands that use this size. I like thomson a lot.
If you use a seatpost shim, the shim should be as long as the minimum post insertion for the frame. |

Have used seatpost shims for years both for my Yo Eddy that has a 29.4 seatpost, and my Kona that has a 30.0 seatpost.
The Path has a good stock of shims or if you want an online option, www.bikeparts.com has pretty much the full line of shims. Never had any issues with either a quick release or bolted clamp.
