Try the Specialized Eskar tire. The resolution is no more.

An ex socal resident that is now a Ga local is telling me daily how great the Eskar is.

Steep and Cheap has some goggles to go with the new pink Chumba:

I really like the Kenda Cortez 2.2 as my rear tire for XC riding. They are cheap at Jenson right now, $20. Fantastic traction, light weight, and tough as nails. Nevegal 2.35 is a great front tire.

Any Ideas? She needs XC tires light great rolling efficiency good traction.
I really like Nevegal's for trail riding, but they probably aren't the best XC light good rolling tires...

I liked the Ignitors on my Dos Niner, but I did change those out for extra added traction on climbs and descents All depends on what you want out of the tires.

Aren't the Larsen's supposed to be good for that also?

But, I'd also suggest something like the Specialized Resolution.

Great rolling until you want to brake or turn.

they work well on the rear, i wouldn't ride them on the front.

I’ve read a lot of good things about Nevegals, but some say the knobbies come off or they wear too fast, etc. Do they handle turns pretty well? One thing I love about Chumbas is their amazing cornering and efficient handling on sharp turns – so I want tires that will complement that…

The Resolutions get good reviews too...

Oh yeah, bike update: all I need now are skewers and tires. I’m going to take the Thomson stem from my WUSS since it’s too long for that bike anyway.

Jamis will be up for sale soon…

Unfortunately for my pedaling, I prefer traction to well-rolling also.

That's why I've got Neve's 2.1 on my Surly, Neve's 2.35 on my Enduro, and Rampages on my Dos.

I've tried low-weight good rolling tires, but feel more comfortable in the So Cal dust on Neve's. Admittedly, I've never tried a Maxxis tire, but if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Didn't you just say you had Maxxis Ignitors on your Dos Niner before?

Yeah, but never ridden a 26" tire by them.

i have not had a lug rip off, but have seen it happen to others. i think it may be specific to certain people's style/aggressiveness. IMO it is unlikely to have a relatively light rider (female) that isn't super aggressive ripping lugs off a tire.

IMO key to a woman's tire:

1. light
2. consistent traction
3. volume

1 & 2 could be flipped around depending on style, intended use etc.

i would rather allison have consistent traction on her trail bike than have super good rolling tires.
I think #1 could be lower on the list if the tire rolled well. I find that true for me anyway. I wasn't too happy about going to a 900+ gram tire from the Nev/BG combo I was using but they seriously feel lighter on the trail with more traction due to a stouter construction and larger volume. For me the Big Betty rules the trail.

I have a brand newset of Maxxis ADvantages (still on the cards and in the plastic that I will sell cheap (2fer deal) if anyone wants to try them. I don't see myself straying from the BB unles these Eskars I have coming just blow my mind.

i used to run a lot of WTB tires, mutanoraptor, weirwolf, exiwolf, etc and some Kenda including the Nevegal; since then i've changed to Maxxis, been running the minions, a bit heavy but excellent traction, i also like the ignitors -- they are significantly lighter but do not feel as sticky on the sharp, fast turns ... i'm not a weight weenie so i don't mind either tire...
