Default Hayes Brake Rotors & Pads

So I have not yet been able to get a new master cylinder for my front brake from the Noble gate incident (for those that missed it, it was part Nadia Comaneci, part Chinese acrobat). So for now, I'm going to take the front brake off my M3 and put it on my Nomad.

Question: Both are Hayes brakes. If I just switch the brake system (minus the rotor) from the M3 to the Nomad, will the pads have to broke in again, or will I be good to go from the start? I'm not going to switch rotors, so I need to know can I just change the brake system, or do I need to swap wheelsets too (since they're both 20mm TA).

Thanks Homies!

pads are bedded into a specific rotor.... at a specific location ON that rotor..... just like cars.

I would not changed the wheel set or the rotor. I would just move the calibers and levers over. You might have to shim the calibers for the different hub and fork but no biggie. A couple of stops and the pads will be re-beded.

As Mr. Stepper said.

Nadia Comanenci...haven't heard that name in a while. Her theme song was my mother's favorite song before she passed away way back then.

Yeah, I know. I've just had those for so many years, and they did the trick, it was kinda like why bother? I can get a stupid cheap deal on the new Hayes Stroker brakes, so I might get a set of those.

If you want the brakes to work right away after changing everything out you need to mark the pads so you put them in the same position as before and only change the brake system. You might even make reference marks on the calipers so you put them the same also.
Your brakes will work fine.
I would start looking at some brake upgrades. Even the Juicy 5&7s are great I have them on my F4 because they are light and have plenty of power.
I have hope 4 piston calipers on my other DH rig and they don't make that big a difference.

I have hayes (AKA "Gayes") on my bikes. I hate them. I'm looking to switch to Avid or formula. Hayes will stop you but there is hardly any modulation and sometimes you need a kung fu death grip on the levers to get them to stop you if you are carrying any kind of speed. I dunno maybe it's just me.
