check the deraler hanger. back a month ago when mine was doing the very same thing all i needed was a new $6 hanger and the problem was fixed. you could just buy a new bike and it will be fixed. you could just hang the bike in the rafters and find a new sport.

advice?
If you overdrove a pin back in, you need to press it back a tiny bit the other direction. Or- you bent a plate doing it wrong. I don't lke splicing chains, it can be done and get ya home, but it's not the best thing and they often fail in that area. Most chains are not meant to be spliced. Speed links are for connecting chains, Shimano uses a special pin for connecting after cutting to final lentgh.

Also- is this a NEW symptom/complaint or were you mis-informing us of your prior complaint (cassette freewheels in drive dirrection)?

I was apparently misinformed... freewheel/hub is fine....

chain already had a SRAM power link, so i couldnt use another.....

so the spliced chain is an unhappy chain at the moment... i will try to press the pin back a tad.

Okidoki.

Make sure the pin is in the plates evenly on both sides and the plates are straight and cherry, but note, that might be the weakest link. So be careful out of the saddle so you don't whack yer knee on the stem when it goes 'KANG!' which can happen when yer chain crosses up in middle/big etc.

(getta new chain soon )
