Like everything, there are optimal configurations. For racing downhill, mtx, and even super D I don't see 29" wheels really making any grand entrance in those arenas. The guy that rides that BCD is kind of like a scientist. He's trying it out. When I see a 29'er on a World Cup gravity podium, I might think about it...a little. XC is a different story. Also, another comparison I might draw on is the long board in skateboarding. You simply can't do the same stuff on a long board that you can do on a short board. Period. Dudes that ride long boards are usually the guys that can't or don't choose to skate vert or rails, and stuff like that. The 29'er is the mtb analog of the long board. In either case, they are like a self-imposed handicap. I'd just rather not. Just an opinion that probably stinks.

I love both my 29er's. Both ti, one SS rigid and one with gears and a Reba. However I just built up a Iron Horse 6 point 8 and am having fun on that as well. Ti, steel. carbon. aluminum. It don't matter as long as the rider is happy and rides his or her bike. Whatever gets you out there. Build away, someone will probably it.

I am looking forward to seeing it. I haven't had a Chumba in a long time. Ted built me my first one in 92 I think and I had two mountain and one road bike.
