I took off my Fox DHX Air and threw on a Marzocchi Roco Air onto my Chumba Evo this afternoon. The mounting hardware is compatible between the two, so no need to buy extra hardware.
![]() To get the same amount of sag, I only need to run 145 psi in the Roco versus 180-190psi in the DHX Air. The initial stroke is much smoother, probably most likely due to no more pedaling platform. The shock feels way more active and the dampening is good. I'm surprised these things retail for only $175. I only had a chance to ride it around the street so far. I'll be taking it to either Whiting-Luge or El Moro in a bit. We'll see if I actually end up missing the ProPedal or not. |

If you find that your not getting full travel there is a way to adjust that as well...Roco Air Bottom Out Adjust.
I know it's on "that" site ya'll hate, but it's useful info. BTW, I bought a Roco Air R for my Dawg to replace my DHX_A and it was the best upgrade yet. Thing is AWESOME!! |

Got in a ride at El Moro yesterday afternoon. Here are my initial thoughts.
On small bump/washboard type surfaces, the Roco tracks much better than the DHX. It just feels very active. I don't seem to miss ProPedal at all. I'm not seeing any more bob than I had previously. On bigger hit/high speed bumps, the Roco seems to give a little more support in the mid-stroke - giving it a more linear feel. The DHX seemed to go through the mid-stroke a little faster, but ramp up quite a bit in the end. As far as the rebound adjustment goes, the knob is indexed for 24 stops. There isn't a big difference in feel between the minimum and maximum rebound settings, so it's pretty tough to tell the difference between 1-2 clicks. It's almost like a micro-adjust for rebound. Anyone want to buy a used DHX? ![]() |

Did you have it repaired from Fox for the "stuck down" problem? I think that was a major prob. with those?

Mine was an 06 and was assured when I bought the bike that the prob. had been resolved and it failed after about 100 miles.
Let me look into it (the fit issue) and I'll get back to you. Thanks!

After reading this thread I've been researching this shock. I'm the last person to buy an air shock for freeriding, but this one seems to be the real deal, and it's less then $175
![]() I was concerned that they only have a rebound adjustment, but found out you can adjust the bottom out on them as well, and they're easy to revalve.
