Hi, I've been riding 3-4 days a week for a month and half now, and I've decided to go clipless.
I love the extra climbing power riding clipless gives me, but I've been having some problems with the cleats. ![]() When I first mounted the cleats, I screwed the bolts tight enough so that the bottom of the center of the cleats touched the sole of the shoes. The problem with the cleats in this tight was that there was no float in the connection with the pedals. Then I found this thread w/ google, saying to not screw the cleats that tight. So, I tightened the bolts light enough so that the spikes in the cleats only went into the sole a little bit. There was a nice amount of float now, but just a little bit up Cholla the cleat started mildly sliding around on the sole of my shoe. Obviously, making it a pain to clip out and chewed up the bottom of the shoes. Also, the bolts didn't loosen at all either (lock-tite). So, if anyone here rides Time pedals; I would appreciate some advice on how tight you mounted your cleats. Thanks for any help, Danny I'll make this my introduce myself thread also: I started mountain biking in June, and have been riding Aliso most of the time, w/ a little bit of Whiting and El Moro. |

I crank them down all the way. The ridges on the back of the cleat will create indentations on the shoes, and then you nay need to re tighten after your first ride. If they are not all the way tight they will probably become loose just like any other cleat.
BTW Welcome to STR! |
