Default Race Face Dues XC Crank

I've been rebuilding (resurecting) an old GT hardtail from a former life. It's going to be added to to my current F.S. ride. I'm in the process of replacing crankset and am in a bit of quandry.

Are the Race Face Dues XC Cranksets as bad and as hard to setup as some people say they are. I know everyone's wrenching skills vary greatly but, I can't differentiate between who's having legitimate problems and who just didn't install them correctly.

Has anyone used them lately? If so, what is your feedback on them.

start out by saying I am not a Race Face fan. The older versions always came loose and never shiffted well.

Now with their OBB stuff to me it is just a Shimano knock off.

IMO Shifting = Sram..... Cranks = Shimano. Pick up a set of the LX's they are cheap and really nice. A little more weight than the XT's but way cheaper.

ps check the reviews on that other website

I much prefer Shimano cranks over Race Face. Race face duece rings are pretty nice though. I just don't link the way you install the crank arms. Should have the crank arm clamp onto the spindle like Shimano does, not just a bolt that holds it all together that you have to rely on to stay tight.

Shimano IMO has much better quality control as well.

I was checking out Nashbar's summer sale flyer and they have 960 XTR cranks for 225 plus free shipping. I can't even get them for that price through the shop.

I have the Deux XC cranksets on two of my bikes. I love them. I've never had any problems, but my buddy did have chainline issues because he didn't read the directions.

I have a set on my 5 Spot and had a set on a Flux I recently sold. I've never had any problems. Lighter than XT's too.

I have them on on my Racer X and SJ FSR pro no problems and I would buy them again. I think a lot of the issues that some have had is that were not installed correctly. To properly seat them it takes a 60ft lb or so of torque.
