Question disc brake pads??

i was wondering how you kno when you need new pads on disc brake, obviously if you dont stop you need new ones, but how much material should be left on a pad?

A lot of times the metal spring clip that spreads the pads apart will start touching the rotor when the pad wears down too thin. Otherwise just take the wheel off and do a visual on the pads, if there is less than 1mm you ought to think about new ones very soon.
