Default rear hub woes...

ive got a no name rear QR hub that exploded yesterday. i took the cassestte off and saw that the pawls are cracked into pieces and the clicky thingy thats pressed into the hub is cracked in 3 uneven spots. now, can i replace the internals (which im sure will be a bit*h considering i have no idea who makes it) or do i just buy a new hub? i swear i cant catch break with bikes, every time i ride something breaks.

I'd go with this, a MUCH better hub, and at a cheaper price even.

HOPE XC DISC HUBS at JensonUSA.com

Oops, wrong kind of hub.

I agree with everyone here though. A good, quality set of hubs will pay for themselves eventually.

$55 is for the front hub, the rear is $129. BUT it is a much better hub. I roll on hope hubs myself.

Dude, I had the same thing happened to us with our Hope Big'Un hub. The only way to go is to replace the hub with a new one. You can always use the old one for a paper weight or boat anchor.

If you want a little more beef in a hub, try the Hope Pro IIs... good all around hub...

Jenson carries them

Go ahead and bag on the cost of Chris Kings, they out live my frames. It is the third bike they have been on. Five years...no rebuilds, once a year service...only cost is grease and new seals. And no you do not have to take the rotor off to adjust them if you grind down a 2.5mm hex wrench.

Default Must agree with the Steppie...

I have a set of King's from 2001 and they still work great. Even Gouge (LBMTB) was rolling on them when he was riding my Flux the other day and noticed how well they worked.

Who's bagging on Kings??? I couldn't afford them when I bought hubs and found Hopes to be a good quality product for less money.... So who knows if Hopes will equal or outlast Kings.... Only time will tell...

Well when I said "bagging on Kings" It could be referring to anything... Price, quality, etc.... not just one thing!

And yes, Kings ARE a bit pricey!!!

On the bright side, you seem to be having fun while you're breaking it.

At least it is only the bike that keeps breaking
