So I've been using a Sun-Ringle SingleTrack, and it's pretty weaksauce. I'd like another rim to hold 2.35" tires, and can take the trails in Aliso (namely Rock-It), Whiting, or The Luge. I've liked the Mavic rim I bought for my DH bike, so I'm thinking about getting either the XM719 or XM819 for my Nomad. I know the difference between the two Mavic rims, but is anybody using either of these rims, and how do they hold up? I'm just tired of that SingleTrack; it's a disposable rim.
Thanks for the input. |

I have the 819's on my Chris King hubs,
they are awesome, yesterday while out at the riding some urban i riped the tread of my Nevagal as i went over the edge of a 3-4 foot huck, stuck the rim 6 inches down in the grass, thing still true as the day i got it |

i believe i rode with you at fullerton project_d and you are a relatively skinny dude compared to me. i've charged rock-it, lynx, t&a, etc... and have done drops at oaks and on t&a with those sun singletracks on my coiler and they are holding up just fine for me(knock on wood). how big are you going to cause damage to those hoops?

Yeah, I'm serious. They don't taco, but they tend to come out of true very easily. I've had rims that were laced professionally, as well as ones I've laced up myself, and they're not suited to my liking at all.
WHOA!!! I'd just get more EX823s if I wanted that burly. I'm trying to shave some weight off my bike, and I know the Mavic XMs are designed for more AM riding, whereas the SingleTracks are designed for aggressive riding, but seing as how I've had bad luck with them, and that I like how well my Mavic rims are holding up, I thought I could save some weight while getting a touch more strength. Maybe that's not the case.Quote:

If you say you are skinny and depending on if you like to get air and do drops the 819's should be a good choice for you. I run them on my 5 Spot w/Hope hubs and they have been great! I'd definately go with a UST rim if you can. Singletracks are ok but are fairly heavy, you can definately save some weight going with the 819's. I also have DT 5.1's on my 6 Pack and they have help up fairly well also even though I put them through a lot more abuse than my 819's. I've just found UST rims to be much more convenient when doing Stan's conversions and lately I've just started buying UST tires as they seem more durable in the long run.
