Don't know about S, but Kona voids theirs unless the job's done by an authorized Kona painter. Haro's cool as long as the jobs done by a professional. Try the Specialized.com website, they have a cool FAQ section.

BOOO!
Repainting Question I want to have my Specialized frame repainted. Where can I go to have this done? Answer Specialized does not have a painting service, but the information below is for the company that has done a lot of frame painting for us in the past. Unfortunately if anyone else besides Class Act repaints the bike it will void the warrranty.

You can give Class Act Coatings a call and they can probably help you out.

You may contact them at the following number:

1-866-823-0070

They are located in the Portland, Oregon area.

Thanks.

Olympic Powdercoating (in Santa Ana) has sprayed pleeenty of frames for manufacturers, area bike shops as well as a few (un-named) STR members. You may want to give them a call. I would also call Specialized and ask why Class Act is the only company capable of spraying your bike.

Bicycles :: Olympic Powder Coating :: Based in Orange County, California, we have been serving our customers since 1974.

Hightech coatings in Santa Ana did 3 of my bikes. The price was much cheaper than what Olympic was asking, but then again, I wanted desert sand which Olympic did not carry. Maybe that's why they wanted more. Anyhow, High tech coatings had the color desert sand(desert camo) so I went with them.

Brand new bike = take it to the place you have written correspondence from the MFG that indicates your warranty won't be void.

Yeah it's crap that Specialized is so limited in where you can take it; but they have a good warranty/service history. If it were me, I'd spend the extra couple of bux to make sure I have some recourse should the frame have any issues.

I don't get why mfgs have "issues" with aftermarket paint. Neither wet application paint or electrostaticly applied powder curing ovens get to temps that are gonna mess up the heat treat. I guess you could find some hamfisted type guy with the sandblaster that runs super coarse abrasive at excessive pressures that could potentially damage something, but you'd probably see the results of such a striping method, especially with wet application paint.

Powdercoating a Specialized frame does void the warrenty as does removing the rear shock, call them and ask for yourself.
