Default Any Lefty riders?

Anyone? I've been thinking about getting one for my Salsa and converting it to work with 29er wheels. Anyone ride one? comments?
Thanks,
Andy

I got a C'Dale Rush last August, after demoing a Prophet once, and a Rush about 3 times. I was totally skeptical of the Lefty at first, but now, I am totally sold on it. I could not be any happier.

no the lefty's have a 25mmsloping to 17mm front hub that keeps it stiffer. the shock mechanism is stiffer as well. i can eplain it to you later.

Rolling on 29" dubs!

i have a '05 lefty max 140 ffd and a '05 lefty speed carbon 110 dlr2. both are converted for 29er use and use project 321 steerer kits. they each get about 30mm less travel (travel reduction does not change the corwn to axle/fork length) to clear the 29er wheel.

i haven't ridin' the carbon speed yet (bought it used and i have to so some servixe on it). the max is really nice though, 110mm of smooth travel. it is a coil/oil fork, so it weighs more than the carbon speed. the rebound damper in the 140 max ffd is nice but you can always upgrade it to a tpc (which are supposed VERY sweet).

lefty forks are pretty awesome when it comes to small bump compliance. they are super supple....they do no use bushings, but stacks of needle bearings!!! depending on which fork you get, they can be very plush or kinda racey (the max forks suit trail/aggro xc folks, the carbon speed models for xc people....which is why i wanted a carbon speed model).

stiffness?...first class. i ride rigid forks and could definately tell if my fork was flexy. the only flex/deflection i can feel from my lefty set up is from my front wheel (i built it with some skinny @ss supercomp spokes, abit too light for me).

the only drawbacks on lefty forks are they are pricey. lefty forks on ebay start at about $400 for the '05 max forks and over $600-800 for the carbon speed stuff.

from there, you have to convert the 1.5" steerer to 1 1/8"...project 321 steerer kits cost $100 for the carbon models and $200 for the alloy lefty max models.

if you are looking for a 05 lefty max 140 ffd, i am selling mine. it has a set of project 321 clamps for use with 1 1/8" steerers and is 29er ready.

check out Lefty - Cannondale Bicycle Corp. for more info.

cheers.

Default Lefty Dlr

My Scalpel comes with a DLR. I have been riding it for 2 years now. I love the fork. It is pretty sttiff and it corners great. I really like the fact that the lockout lever is located right next to the handlebar. The fork feels kind of soft, climbing out of the saddle, so I lock mine all the time. It's very handy to have the lever so close to the handlebar.
I''m not sure if all the models come with a lockout feature. Make sure you get one that has it.

I love my lefty! Its a 140 max on my prophet. Had it for about 4 months now and lots of riding, nothing bad to say about it! Only downside is transport, need a special adaptor to use on regular fork racks.
