Thank you all for your input. I guess im going to have to start looking for a new bike. A quick addition of the parts list along with instalation puts the price above the value of the bike. I will be looking at a used rig or a closeout model. I don't need to buy new, all im going to do is crash and sratch it up anyways.

OTOH, it's addicting. So, it really depends on how much debt you want to get into
Me and my 7 bikes have no idea what you're talking about Seriously though, if you have the available $$, I would just buy a new bike. If it's truly only worth a couple hundred bucks, why drop that much into it. Besides, you got it for free anyway, so you're still making out good.

I've also got a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 120 Disc I'll be selling. It's not put together for sale yet, but if interested let me know. Not sure if you're looking for more travel, though.

Looks like there are plenty of bikes for sale here on STR, What size of a bike are you looking for, better yet, how tall are you? Bikes do fit different depending on manufacture, like longer top tubes and such. Good luck! I may even have one to sell soon.

lucas, you're about my size/weight... if you want, you can demo my giant reign to see how you like it.. its 6" front/6.75" rear travel that is setup currently for more DH, but i might put a 70mm stem back on as opposed to the 50mm thats on it right now. i'll be riding whiting tonight at 6
