I would grab those Mr.7, it is going to be a lot cheaper than buying another hoop and having it laced, plus your front and rear wheels will match. Unless you are running V-brakes, in which case I have a set of Mavic 217s I can sell to you. I think B-Rad is selling a Sun Doubletrack rim for $25 as well. |

You should be able to find a set of XT/ Sun Rhyno Lites good and cheap. Those are some tough old school wheels. I'm 210 as well and I'm really hard on rear wheels, you'll blow the XT hub before the rhyno (I've done it). Mavic XM321 is another solid rim that can be had for cheap and I think I remember seeing universalsycles.com selling sun singletracks for $20 a pop.

Bikes don't kill bunnies

I'm running older Mavic 219s on my hardtail and my rear wheel takes a beating. Still running true after seeing more than a couple unexpected rock collisions. I also have more than a couple lbs on you so you know they'll last under ya. They came stock on lots of midline freeride bikes a couple years ago, so there are a good amount floating around in the 2nd hand market at a good price. The same goes for the Rhynolites mentioned above. My brother rolls on those, he weighs in the 240 range, and his rear is still rolling true.
I don't know about the 117, but at the price listed, you can't really go wrong. You can usually score a new set of XT/Rhynolites for $100 new. They aren't fancy, but they'll work. Or you can take this opportunity to bling your ride out, have a new wheel built up to replace the damaged one, then save for a new build on the other wheel when funds allow. Good luck, Chris |
