Default Nevegal Tire Knobs coming off

Hi All,

Don't know if this is a common occurance, but after today's ride, I noticed the knobs on my tire coming off. I took a small 2 ft drop onto an off piste landing and my rear tire burped. Stan's goop squirted all over the place. I didn't think much of it since tire burping is fairly common. But when I got home, I noticed the side knobs tearing off. The tire is a Nevegal 2.35 DTC. I'm guessing the rubber is separating from where the hard and soft compound meet. Is this a warranty repair item or should I just suck it up and get a new tire? I'm running the tires tubeless with Stans which I believe according to Kenda is not recommended. Also, there are no blisters on the tire.

So far OK on mine, but yes knobs comming off...common occurance. That granite is unforgiving.

If you follow the Turner Board on MTBR, Nevs once were the tire of choice for Team Sanchez (St. George)...until the sheading knob problem. Knob problems with Nevs seem to pop up when you ride alot of square edged rocks.

I've heard of it but never had it happen to me personally on a Nevegal. I did have that problem with a Blue Groove but by that time the tire was worn down anyway.

As for warranty, They'll most likely pro-rate it but it never hurts to ask.

BTW, I just switched from a Nevegal on my 5 Spot to Maxxis High Roller 2.3 and I'm really liking it. Easier tire I've ever converted with Stan's.

Kenda wont warranty a tire that has had tire sealant used in it. They have a disclaimer on the packaging.

My second ride on my yeti575 I was out bunny-hopping parking stops when I scraped one w/the rear Nevegal..ripped one of the middle tread blocks off and the inner tire threads w/it! After reading of these issues I am wishing I had taken it back to my sponsor store to replace. Although I understand the Kenda disclaimer it is also not an excuse for the tires to be falling apart. I could hit that parking stop (and have) with much cheaper and softer tires without any incident.

Good tire or bad tire, something like that should never happen...that is a definite defect.

That probably happened when you hit that rock on Silver Moccasin and went OTB. Here is a pic of the rock that Lynn went OTB on.
