Default shimano LX derailer probs.

hi,
well the last few XC rides have been a bit problematic. all gears work well, except 2nd and 8th rear gears, regaurdless of front wheel selection. it wants to shift out of 2 and 8, making it hard to crawl or haul some "A". suggestions? ive tweequed on it in all repects and just cant get it. possibly a derailer problem? possible replacement suggestions? also, do the cassette removal tools used for shimano fit shimano BB's? they look like they might.. thanks in advance.

check your derailer hanger... might be bent slightly

the BB and cassette tools are different

Check and see if the cogs are straight too. Mine tend to bend after a while.

wowzers. it was a few problems. heres what i found. hanger was bent, cable wasnt fully seated into the hand control adjuster, cable housing was too long in the rear pivot area causing it to bind a little at times. and there was a small unicorn poping holes on my cables. thanks for the suggesions guys.
