Default Bike Shop Reccomendations, Please

Howdy All,
Long time no post, just lurking, mostly.
I worked with George on the Fullerton Dam trail with Ranger Tom and rode Motorway with a few of you once.

Time again to do a little more upgrading to the ol' Fisher Joshua "Y" (now F3) rig, circa 1996. Factory warranty claims have allowed me to renew frame and sub-frame; & of course while in the LBS had them change out brakes, hubs, rear-shock, shifters and gears over the years.
About the only thing original is the fork (RockShock Judy XL) and handle bars w/ ol' timie bar ends. Been puttin' it off until something else gets broken, spoke nipples have finally pulled thru the rim in a couple of places on the rear, time to open up the wallet.
I've been looking at Marz forks at Jensen, however just noticed that Wheel World is having a good sale on their Marz. forks.
I know pricing will pretty much be the same, I of course need the rear wheel rebuilt, crank rebuild and new cables, figured since I'll be buying the fork anyway, which of the 2- shops would be best for the other items of attention or do Jensen and Wheel World even do repairs/service? Anyone have any suggestions on level of service at either place? Live in Fullerton, work in Carson so both places are about the same distance.
Any input would be welcome, thanks in advance.
Cheers.

i have no experience with either shops for service, but i've been going to the path for about as long as i've been in the sport. They've never let me down and have even called to make sure i wanted it done a certain way or if something came up. All the guys there are super cool and are always willing to help you out. check them out at The Path Bike Shop - Mountain Bikes, Mountain Bike Accessories, And Mountain Bike Parts . I've also heard very good things about switchback cyclery in orange as well

I've always had good luck with the guys at the Path, they seem to know their stuff. I've also been to Jenson and Wheel World. Never had any service at Wheel World but Jenson is OK. I would recommend the Path.

Default Shop Recommendation

Well, if you're in the 909 area, RPM Cyclery is awesome.

Banning's Bikes in downtown Fullerton. It's a brand new shop owned and staffed by the some of the best mechanics around, most are from the Two Wheeler Dealer in Brea. The shop is right off Harbor and has a blue awning.

You will get excellent service at Jenson. Luis is very meticulous with every bike he works on. He was the instructor for the Park Tool School class I attended a short while back. Now I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Where do you live? Jensen's is good, I've not heard any legitimate gripes about them. But give us an idea of what area and I'm sure someone here can help you out.

He could be trying to throw us off, Mike, but it appears he lives in Fullerton and works in Carson .

Not the best place to do your shopping, but the wrenches at Jax in Fullerton have always taken good care of me, Wayne and Mike particularly.

For parts/repairs outside the routine stuff, I'll throw in another recommendation for The Path.

I really have had great sevice at Adrenaline Bikes in Orange. Prices are right, the service guys - Gabe & Dave- are spot on and they carry Bianchi, Yeti, Lynskey, Marin, Brodie, Litespeed, Merckx, Chumba, Titus, Rocky Mountain Cycles and others.
I am a little biased though, I manage the store!
Stop on by and say howdy!

I will have to check this place out.
I work close to JAX and I hate that place so much I won't even buy a tube there.
I am happy to drive the distance to see Tim at Switchback. Great family owned shop. Can't go wrong with The Path for sure either. But I'm happy to hear about this new place. I'll check it out fo sho.

Glad they got someone in there to manage the store. Isn't Dan the owner? Several years ago, I ordered some parts, and I got the runaround for months. Later, I had them build up a set of wheels, and it was the worst wheel build I've ever seen. I've been back a couple times, and the guys were really helpful, so it's glad to see there has been some change.

I did buy some tubes there 5 for $10. Those Bontrager tubes suck! I've known the owner for over 24 years, and he's still an @$$.

I've always heard great things about Tim and his shop, but I haven't found them since they moved (obviously, I haven't actually looked up the address, just trying to spot them on Chapman).

Jenson was awesome when they were up in Brea. I essentially bought about a half a dozen bikes from them since they were local and convenient.

Is that the place near Costco? If so, great location. I haven't been there in about 6 months. I think they just moved in, since they didn't have any mtb stuff yet.

I agree.
I guess I have to end my bike shop rant with that.

Then where is Banning's Bikes? Off of Harbor and what? I haven't even heard of it before this! Man...nothing new ever happens around here (Fullerton) but then three months in Japan and there are all kinds of changes...

Cool Bike Shops

Wow! Thanks very much for all the responses, some good contact info for specific shops.
This is exactly why I've been lurking on this site for a couple of years now, very helpful and friendly bunch.
I found the address for Banning Bikes: 206 N. Harbor Blvd., x-st Ameridge/Wilshire.
I'm always about supporting my LBS so I'll pass by there and check it out.
Depending on fork prices I may go ahead and look you guys (Luis and Brandon) up at Jensen.

Thanks for the info. Nice and close to me!

I live on the boarder of Buena Park and Fullerton and I work in Torrance. It's been hard finding a good, local shop. The Path is good, but it's not local for me, and I can only ever get there on Saturday, and I hate wasting a good day going to a bike shop when I could be out riding or doing something.
