Default Sram Power Link on Shimano chain?

I don't see why it wouldn't... But will A sram power link, work on a Shimano XTR ( Dura Ace ) chain?

Stock setup on alot of bikes.

9 speed fine, 8 speed fine

Ten speed is a no go, the sram ten speeds are just a touch narrower.

I don't leave home without it, and have a bag full of XTR chain connecting pins to prove it. Go with the SRAM Gold 9-Speed.

It works great with the 7701-XTR chain, but I used a fine file to smooth out the swedged pin protrusion of the SRAM gold link side plates.

Reduce the pin protrusion slight interference with FD side cage during small >> middle or middle >> large chainring transition. The rest of the chain is flush so wanted to have same width profile throughout the entire length.

Ok, makes sense. I will give you that, at the same time Only problem I have had with mine on s shimano chain it the slightest little click if you are near a cross chain.....How is it holding up like that???

Been running a SRAM 10 speed powerlink on a Shimano chain for 2 years.

I am curious how that is possible, the shimano chain is wider than the sram 10 speed power link, you sure you dont have the wipperman link taht was made for the ten speed shimano?..... that or it was a super bitch to install, and you probably cant get it back off.......

Make sure your not actually using a powerlock... those were recalled.

The pin protrusion is a dome shape but there is a bit of a sharp edge that was getting caught slightly and I smoothed the edges down to limit that interference. When I looked at an old gold link it was worn away. Not an issue for durability, since I didn't file it away completely flat.

Some might consider that a little over-engineering, but my whole bike has a bit of that going on.

Ya, got it handled. Been wrenching on bikes (cars, motorcycles, washing machines....etc) for 30 years, believe it or not I actually know what I'm doing. Standard SRAM power link, wasn't the easiest to put on but I've had it on and off a few times (even though SRAM tells you not to re-use it) and it works fine. When working with mechanical stuff I trust my knowledge and experience first and take manufacturer recommendations with a grain of salt.
