Not my car in the photo but similar...
I got the 989 THULE today at performance and.... NO WAY! not enough space with the spoiler and the FIBERGLASS TRUNK LID is no good either....I cant install a hitch either since the bumper curls inward to the gas tank... I use my Expedition most of the time for riding and it has a THULE T2 on there... I just want to have one on my Mustang ![]() anyone had this problem before? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

hah! ok went back to performance and got the SARIS BONES 3 (thats all they have) yeap it cleared the spoiler but....
![]() I dont trust the hooks between the rear window and trunk lid... it could barely hold a load and the lid flex too much... I would have to bolt one of these directly to the metal frame under the lid/rear window. ![]() I know there is enough room for this. the bottom hooks are hooked directly "inside" the trunk (metal). The side hooks? I dont know yet, I'll figure this out tomorrow ![]() I dont know if I'm just tired/sleepy, but damn! this bike rack seems kinda ugly ![]() Edit: The rear bumper is .5"+ thick polyurethane |

the side straps suck anyways 80% of the time one will come off, the top and bottom are the most important. I have tested mine up to 105mph with 2 MTBs on the back (one 20-21lbs and the other around 26) before I can see them lift a lil and vibrate more then my liking. Always put the lighter bike on last unless its considerably larger frame. The first few weeks, the straps will strech so make sure you keep tighten them down. Oh and don't use the middle slot unless you got road bikes or use bungie cords from the front wheel to cranks so the pedals won't hit the frames or your wing. I forgot to bungie my bike one time and scared my wing from my pedals......

yeah! so I woke up today and figure out the hooks... NICE! I got it all figured out... all hooks can be mounted on the metal surface under/inside the trunk lid.... PERFECT!....
Next step... see how the bike will sit and how low/high it will be when on the rack.... WHAT THE PHCK! Bike won't fit! not inside the front triangle due to horizontal rear shock... I tried using a Thule frame adapter still a no go due to dual crown fork with direct mount stem...I will just have to settle in custom fitting a rear hitch. That means I will have to cut a hole through the bumper and just use my thule t2 |
