Default Refacing BB

So I'm thinking about building my next bike, and I just wanted to know your thoughts on refacing the bottom bracket on the frame...obviously, if there's a major misalignment, you would reface the frame surface...but otherwise, how much of a factor would refacing be if any misalignment is just slight? Would it make a big difference in the life span of the bearings?

Thanks in advanced

I would not buy a frame that had "a major misalingment". I have never faced the BB on any of my frames. It is not reqired, or has already been done on a quality frame.

Yeah you really wont need unless you are certain if it hasnt been faced. If you are planning to get an external bb then they recommend to face the shell. I dont think its necessary but if you are having alignment issues with the external bb then go ahead and have it done.

Its good to have it faced if your frames powdercoated and there is excessive coating on the bottom bracket shell. The facing will allow the bottom bracket to sit perfectly flush...

some frame manufactures will face the head tube and the BB shell before they ship it...
