yeah 980 = fail.

to get it off, pop the free body out. Flip it over and tap the cassette out using the "carrier"....
no, as in I don't have a chainwhip or anything else to hold the cassette to get it off. My 990 comes off by hand when i use the lockring tool because i tighten it by hand

going to bug ken for his whenever i see him next

well you can use an old chain as a whip also....
but seriously, if you pop the freehub out (a seal holds it in place) you can just tap the cassette out from the back

well, just looked at a pic. Not nearly enough room to shove 4 more pawls in there....

but you can see the silly leaf springs....

Hum, different. My Ringles use a coil spring instead, with a nub on the end of the pawls.Maybe its the same, have to take it apart again. Just think the set up is different.

yeah, fitting extra pawls in there would, well, not work. if you were really bored, you could start from scratch and probably fit 6 pawls in there (giving you 36 engagements points I think), but that's a pony keg job right there...

I was thinking of the freehub body on my supergos. 3 pawls, fairly short, all extended by one spring that clips into a channel. you'd literally need to make 3 more pockets and buy more pawls. tons of room for it.

I say, put a stronger spring in there so they're louder
