Default It's On Again: STR Bike Maintenance take-over!!

It was so much fun, we're doing it again!!!

Tuesday September 16, 6:30PM to ??? at Fullerton Bikes!!

Please RSVP

Once again Fullerton Mike has opened his shop up for us to come in, use their stands, tools, etc to learn how to clean & lube, adjust derailuers & brakes, and make minor repairs (change a tire, fix a chain...) and basically check over your own bike to make sure it's ready for the trail.

Post here about what you'd like to do. Last time, besides general maintenance, we got into tearing apart bottom brackets, headsets, and suspension pivots. What do you want to learn to do to your bike?

Two important things:

1) Please RSVP Here. 12 bikes is allot to get through in one evening since we're going to be doing it ourselves. Beyond the first dozen who RSVP, if you want to come and watch/help, feel free to join us.

2) Last time a couple couple of the more experienced STR "wrenches" helped out. If you work on your own bikes and can make it, it would truly make this an STR event.

Dang it, these always fall when I am out of town for work. I still want to learn the voodoo behind adjusting derailleurs...

I want to take off my dork ring! Unless someone has a cassette tool I can borrow?

edit: Just saw prices on lock ring tool and they're cheap enough to pick up.

Any chance you'll be covering wheel/hub adjustment and cleaning? I'm a bit intimidated by wheel maintenance.

Sheesh! I have to miss this again. I'm starting a new job that has me working until 7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.. any chance of any MORE future ones? And possibly some geared towards people who know almost nothing about bikes?

Thanks though!

I'm with mtnkitty - I'm traveling that day and can't attend and sounds like most would go over my head. I know my limits, would love to learn shock/fork adjustments why & when, tire selection (and why) and general maintenance for the best ride - everything else goes to the 'pro' mechanic.

I should be able to help if I am not too busy getting ready for interbike. I can cover brake bleeds, suspension rebuilds, suspension tuning, drivetrain issues etc. Depends on the audience I guess. I can go as advanced or as simple as people want.

Just so long as Mike has all the tools/equipment to do this that is.
