Anyone know if there is a way to charge my 305 with someone besides a plug/computer. I am going on a multi-day backpacking trip and would like to bring the garmin both record where i go, and also see how far we go each day, elevation, ect. But i dont know if there is portable battery type charger available for this?
Thanks for any help

You can get a USB charger for it too. I got something similar to the item below at Wal-Mart for around $10. It charges my Garmin 205, Cell Phone, and iPod. Only issues is you gotta have some AA batteries.

I usually use one of these to charge my Edge when I'm out camping. You just need the one with the mini-USB adapter (same as Blackberry phones).

I had the APC until recently when I lost it on my trip to South Africa. I will be buying a new one. That thing was great!
However for your intended purpose I would not recommend it. The 305 is a dog on battery life. I get about 7 hours out of mine. I don't know about you but that is about one day max for me on the trail. If I was doing a big multi day hike like JMT I would expect to be hiking more than 7 hours a day. For your intended purpose I would go with a solar charger. I am split on the idea of a solar charger with battery pack or just a charger. I ended up getting the little one with three lobes they sell at REI with my dividend. It's got a battery, which is cool, but adds weight. I don't like the ones that use batteries unless you use rechargeables. Terrible waste of money, resources, and destructive to the environment.
