Default Cyclometer does not work with night light

I wanted to see anyone else had this problem. I purchsed a wireless Sigma Sport cyclometer with a back light for night riding. Seemed like a really good idea. Finally cyclometer manfacutrers are waking up to the fact that people ride at night. However, the computer stops working when I turn on my handlebar HID light. Sigma suggested 1. I wrap my light in aluminium foil to cut down on the RF from the light. 2. mount the computer in the seat post 3. Don't use the handlebar light but only my helmet light.

All great ideas don't you think?

I had the same problem. I ended up having to mount the light on one side near the shifter and the computer on the other.

This is one of the biggest reason why I switched over to LED's for my lighting needs. I also now use the Garmin 705 as my computer. The color screen is great for visibility at night without hindering forward vision.

This is a somewhat normal occurrence with HIDs and wireless computers/GPS units. The ballast inside the HIDs emits a radio frequency that interferes with the transmitter/receivers on the computers.

Perhaps you can try lead shielding. I know that works for kryptonite.

Yep Ive had the same problem when I ran my HID with my Cateye wireless computer. The computer wouldnt display my current speed with my light on however when I had it off it worked fine. I have since upgraded to a Garmin 305 and it has worked fine with my HIDs.

ive noticed that if you put your foot down and your shoe flies off, your doing about 40mph. now if your shoe AND sock fly off, your 60mph +
