Chris Kings are rather loud... My CrossMax SLRs are noticeable, but not overly loud. The new Crank Brothers Cobalts are nice and loud.

I've got Hope Pro II's and they are the loudest I have heard. My buddies King's are relatively silent in comparison. Another buddy has Ringle hubs and they are almost as loud as the Hope's.

The Hope Pro IIs in singlespeed form are probably twice as loud as the normal geared Hopes as they have twice the engagement points. Loud enough where it's hard to have a conversation while coasting.

I've been at El Moro a few times in the past few weeks, maybe it was me?

Since using hope Pro II, I no longer need to have a bell...

I months back a guy on blackstat had a Ringle hub and it was the loudest I have ever heard. Have seen many Ringle hubs these days. Hope would be 2nd on that list

I9s are pretty loud. I took mine off to be tensioned and put on my backup XT set and can't believe how quiet and peaceful it is to coast down a hill now. I know, I know, I should be pedaling all the time anyway ;-)

I used to have Ringle's and they're certainly loud in the clicky sort of way. Hope II single speed hubs sound very similar, just a touch louder, I'd bet that's what you heard.

My Kings are nearly silent, well, at least compared to my I9's, but the Kings have at least ten thousand miles on them and have been rebuilt numerous times.

Riding with a buddy who has Hope ProII SS hubs, we were surprised to find that over 20mph, the I9's actually get louder than the Hopes, clearly into the annoying realm, but not as much of a clicking noise, more of just a buzz like Kings, just more of it.

Hope Pro II SS. Loud enough to wake up my wife if I roll thru the house at night.

re: bells. Use 'em if you ride on multi-use trails. Hubs sound like crickets to unsuspecting (albeit naive) hikers.
