I used to have Ringle's and they're certainly loud in the clicky sort of way. Hope II single speed hubs sound very similar, just a touch louder, I'd bet that's what you heard.
My Kings are nearly silent, well, at least compared to my I9's, but the Kings have at least ten thousand miles on them and have been rebuilt numerous times. Riding with a buddy who has Hope ProII SS hubs, we were surprised to find that over 20mph, the I9's actually get louder than the Hopes, clearly into the annoying realm, but not as much of a clicking noise, more of just a buzz like Kings, just more of it. |

I am thining of four hubs that are normally quite loud, Chris King, Hope, Ringle, and I9.
