No maintenance ever? My sealed cartridge crank bearings wear out once a year.

With the ability withstand side loading better, ease of maintenance, and adjustability, I'd definately prefer loose-ball-designed hubs over sealed bearing hubs (with everything else being the same). If I could get King hubs with loose-ball bearings, I'd be all over them in a heart beat!

Anyone ever notice that Shimano and Campagnolo have the highest level of R&D than any other premium hub manufacturer in the world and yet they use a loose-ball design in their hubs? Campy Record hubs have long been one of the most sought after hubs in the world, far greater than any sealed-bearing hub.

Wow, didn't realize that Campy Record uses loose ball bearings. What about Shimano Dura Ace?

I saw alot of complex answers, but there is two simple answers, first off, why change what works!!!

Second, and I will stand behind this to the grave, Loose ball style hubs roll better, last longer, and are lighter compared to the counterpart cartridge bearing hubs. They have less bearings!!!!! Specially in a rear hub
