Question Lubing a rear shock

Should you use lubrication on a [FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica][SIZE=1]Manitou Metal RP Coil?

If so, where should it be applied?

Default Let it ride....

Lubrication is not really needed. Just keep it clean, and look for leaks, that's all!

It looks like it has plain bushings in the mounting eyes. Put a little grease on the mounting bolts when you assemble it, and maybe every several months. You could occasionally put a little oil on the shaft at the seal with a q-tip, then bounce it up & down a few times to spread it on the shaft. Don't overdo it or it'll attract dirt. Because of the coil, you'll have to get any excess off with a strip of cloth. But you could skip oiling it if the shaft stays clean & shiny looking -- most seals let a little oil by. But if you live by the coast (salt air), definitely oil it. You could also ask Manitou. Or just ignore it and ride!
