Default Name the mystery part

Just saw this on a Spain MTB site's gallery -- photo labeled "patent applied for". Had me puzzled at first glance until I enlarged it and saw what it was...

Chain de-mudder, When you ride in the mud the chain will run between the two sprockets and scrape the mud off, can be installed by removing the derailleur bracket.

Thats my guess.

how bout spares? and it looks like the derailuer hanger has already been used, or most likey what downhiller91 said, they lost a bolt and the only one they had was 3 inches long so they needed to take up some threads

Yeah, I go with the broken pivot, replaced by a random bolt from a toolbox and whatever they could find for spacers. In the original small photo, the pulleys looked like gears and it really had me wondering. Plus I remembered seeing all kinds of weird Spanish bicycle stuff once. I'll have to look for that again...anyhow, thanks for playing!

Maybe the caballeros use it to clean their spurs of mud?

Damn, that is weird, if it were on the drive side it would be an idler puller but on the left side no clue . I gotta agree with its either spare parts or spacers

It looks like a broken deraillueur hanger and some derailleur wheel thingies screwed to the side of a frame.

But in my dream mtb world you loosen the allen bolt a bit and swing the derailleur hanger around it locks onto another bolt and makes the full suspension into a makeshift hardtail...
